Louise Trotter - Designer, Creative Director of Bottega Veneta

Congratulations, I’m so happy for her. The only way to go is up for her now.

The fact that she brings Carven back to the conversation and got the Kering crown jewel with only 4 collections, it’s just so impressive to me. And I love that her name wasn’t associated with any big names but she was building the foundation for her career steady one step at a time, from Joseph to Lacoste to Carven and now Bottega. Talent and tirelessly dedication to the craft will always have a place in fashion.

And one the side note this mean more Suzanne Koller for me and I’m not complaining :P.

She doesn’t strike me as competent enough to be CD. Her menswear is laughable and womenswear seems to be a mixed bag of everything: from Proenza through Phoebe to Meiers 🙃 time will tell if she can conjure desirable pieces…

I am excited to see what she will achieve at Bottega Veneta.
It can go either way - and that is how fashion must be.
Also - no vanilla boy at the helm of an important luxury house!!
Wish her the best of luck and thick skin to deal with Kering.

I mean…I think this is a very risky decision for Kering frankly speaking. But after ancora boy in Gucci nothing surprises me lol. Very curious to understand why it was Louise that got the job instead of pushing for an internal promotion ( BV design team has aplenty of competent professionals in there)

A lot of people are rooting for her in the industry and tbh, after 2 « stars » designers, it make sense to have someone known to build some sort of excitement.
Even more when we don’t know who is leaving BV with Blazy.
I wonder where she will be based though.

im sure she will be great. It will be very honest collections that will not rely on gimmicks. Its time to stop trying to turn BV into a balenciaga or loewe. Hopefully back to high quality and desirable pieces again like hermes.

I get you, but she has really big shoes to fill after Lee and even Blazy… and will BV like a CD that doesn’t create hype? Time will tell I guess

Her last Carven was not impressive, more of an audition for The Row.
Who is rooting for her ?

Industry people.
It may have more to do with her personality.

I wasn’t a fan of her last Carven either but I loved her Lacoste and what she did at Joseph.

I think her fashion sensibility goes well with BV. I hope she will be more gentle with her oversized silhouettes.
