Lucky Magazine

I recently resubscribed to Lucky after they made me a deal I thought I couldn't refuse, and am now regretting it. Does anyone else feel the magazine has been refocused on very young girls?

That's quite nice actually. The text is really easy on the eyes.

I like the September cover photo, though I don't think the clothes/background colors seem very fall-esque!

Interesting question. I was considering resubscribring after a year + break-up so I'd like to have some feedback on that point.

"On what she'll wear to Michelle Obama's house"?

So it's not called The White House anymore....?

^ Well, technically it is "her" house while they live there.

True, and most likely it will be hers for another term. But I mean.... I've just never heard it refereed to that way. Hillary Clinton's house? Laura Bush's house? It just sounds wrong, somehow.

Some of the former key staff are no longer there, and there are some tone changes (not for the better IMO--the new advice column I would deep six in a heartbeat). But whereas with Bazaar, Elle, Vogue there's information that's about and applicable to women of my age, that seems to be missing from Lucky now. I'm sure you remember the page where they had someone with a perceived figure flaw, and they dress her in various options. That is gone, and replaced with an apple/pear/flute/hourglass feature. Well, I'm not really any of those straight up, so I found the previous feature more interesting.

I see another breakup in our future ...

(I too would like to hear other opinions on this ...)

the magazine was much better under kim france. i still dont know why they got rid of her.

the publishers said that they needed "prettier models" but i dont know what was wrong with the models before.

Oh, we already broke up. I'm so disappointed! The only thing I can honestly say I like better is the layout/graphic design. However, it's been about 2 months now where I haven't purchased the magazine. It keeps getting thinner and thinner, no real content that 'grabs' me or that I couldn't get online... And yes, the most annoying part is that I feel like I'm reading and Ellegirl. Except, I'm not a girl anymore, and I don't want a teen mag! I miss the old Lucky. I agree about the figure flaws page. I miss the months of outfits/lucky girl week of outfits. They were much better styled before. And I do not like the 'dear lucky' answers, either. I miss Andrea's last page outfit illustration.

Whoa, that was some rant.

Lucky was my regular monthly purchase. Now I have no magazine at all : (

I really like Lucky`s cover with Eva! Loving the layout

Maybe the current editor's Jane experience is what's causing the magazine to skew so young ...

I agree that the week of outfits was good. Elle does that, but their print is so damn small ... I think graphic designers who design that way should not be allowed to have reading glasses when they need them. At least Lucky hasn't done that ...
