Mad Men

finally finish the last bit of all 4 seasons. i love this show! i thought season 4 was the best season so far.

my favorite character now must be peggy olsen. she is the one character that changed so much during the past 4 seasons. she is a lot more dynamic now.

the whole megan+don thing didnt surprise me at all. out of all the women don had been with during season 4, i knew immediately what don was gonna do when he saw how she was with the kids.

i read somewhere else that someone predicted betty will be like don in her marriage with harry. i think don will end up marrying megan but betty will have or try to have affairs with don again. you can already feel that in the final scene of the season finale.

i like megan in season 4, but who knows, maybe her claws will come out in season 5 and be in catty fights with peggy. but i probably will stand by peggy, still.

i dont blame peggy for wanting a parade every time she did something good for the company. it was the 60s and she was the only women copy writer in the place among so many men, who she had to "fight" off to get jobs done. unlike now days things can be solved with a lawsuit. she also had to work extra hard when her male co-workers bail or being inadequate. i mean, what does roger sterling do at work anyways?

Great video Luxxx. I feel for Betty I think all she wants is someone to have her back and love her unconditionally and she just never does. Although she can make it tough for herself.

Don (Jon) was great on Conan. They showed the most hilarious montage on Don´s "whats?"

Jon is so different when he laughs and kids. He is so un-Don

Season 4 just finished airing in the UK this week so I can finally come in this thread without having to avoid spoilers. Originally they weren't planning to show it here until January but they brought it forward because people were saying they'd just download it instead!

It might just be the best thing I've ever seen on TV. Certainly the most consistently good.

The ending for me was quite unexpected. I liked Faye and was hoping she'd end up with Don. Here is someone who is an independently successful careerwoman and with an intelligence to match Don, unlike Betty. Perhaps he was slightly threatened by that. But maybe most of all she didn't display the maternal qualities that he now finds important in a partner whereas Megan was pretty amazing at it. Just wonder where that relationship is gonna go.

I also think it's been quite brave of the writers to make Betty so very unsympathetic. I was sort of rooting for her in the second season because I wanted her to discover that Don was being unfaithful. But now it's clear how emotionally immature she is. It's quite fitting that she's unwittingly getting therapy from a children's psychiatrist.

So many incredible episodes. The trip to California to see Anna was heartbreaking. And the one where Ms Blankenship departed was actually hilarious. The whole show is constantly surprising and involving. Can't wait for the next season, but it's a long way off.

Having just watched the final epsiode of the series I can actually come to this thread :D Hugely enjoyable as always, although I feel some characters are being sidelined somewhat. Pete has certainly been less visible than in previous seasons.
I'm a little surprised at all the Betty hate here......of course she is damaged and unreasonable and irrational, she spent 10 years or so with a man who she loved and then found out he had been living a lie. I think this would f**k me up a little too. I really wish Megan had told Don to shove his marriage proposal up his ****, but I knew she wouldn't. He only wants a mother figure for his children and someone to take care of them when he can't be bothered.
He is such a selfish, egotistical man and I like it better when his pathetic existence is on a downward spiral as he deserves everything he gets.
Massive kudos to Jon Hamm for still managing to make a hugely unlikable character, strangely charismatic.
Christina Hendricks is still the most amazing looking woman on TV right now and Elizabeth Moss is still outstanding.
John Slattery's acerbic remarks are totally shocking, but still hilarious.

A wonderfully a unique show, rising to the top amongst a sea of formulaic rubbish. Roll on next season.

I'm forcing myself not to look at any of the recent posts... but I finally began watching the series (it had a "very long wait" through Netflix for 4 months here in LA) and my husband and I are LOVING it! Almost done with season 1...

  Thank you for posting this :flower:.

I love Anderson and the ridiculist .

I can't go 2011 without some Mad Men. I didn't even know there was an issue between the producers and the network. So this is news to me.

"When I wake up tomorrow morning it better be fixed!"
- "How do we go about fixing it specifically?"
"Take it one step at a time. Identify a problem. FIX IT!"
"Identify another problem. FIX IT!"
"Repeat as necessary."

Hahahaha

Does anybody know in which episode Roger and Jane got married??

I don't recall an episode that shows Roger and Jane getting married. I think they get married during the time between season 2 and 3 because they are married by the time season 3 starts but are only engaged at the end of season 2. Roger proposes to Jane in episode 11 of season 2.

I read today that Mad Men won't be airing this year . Its such a shame really since its one of the best shows on tv. I wish the producers and network could get their act together.

^^^So I´ve heard.
It seems like the show is quite prestigious and awarded, but not big on the making money side.

I hope the network and the actors finally arrive to a solution. This is a great show and we´re all waiting for it. A year or more of being "freezed" won´t do the audience any favor. I only hope the actors are not being too "divas". This is a great SHOW I´m not sure if the actors by themselves could make such an impact without the superb scripts and the genious direction.

I really love this show, this news of the indefinite halt in the production is certainly a bummer

They will sort it out. I remember there being the same issues last year. Mad Men is AMC's tent pole so they will find a compromise. No way are they gonna let the show go.

I'm certain it will come back once they thrash out contractual issues. A similar thing happened with The Sopranos I think where it was two years between seasons.
