Madonna

Madonna has been using for research as she works on the screenplay for her next film project, based on the novel “The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells.”

Can't wait for the vintage costumes in the movie, W.E. was a visual feast for fashion.

Rebel Heart is released in the USA today!

That was the only decent thing about that movie.

As far as directing and/or acting in a movie, she is the epitome of Box Office Poison. Love her to the letter, but she really shouldn't be w/in a 5 mile radius of any movie-studio, in my opinion.

^^^ I couldn't even make it through the halfway mark of that dreadful film LOL

I mean, I've already seen the amazing costumes with The King's Speech.

I seriously cannot sit through any Madonna film. Desperately Seeking Susan really is the only one, and that's more for it's rich reference of 1984-NYC fashions and landmarks than for her cameo or the story.

Her performance in Italy of "Devil Pray" and "Ghosttown" : http://www.rai.tv/dl/RaiTV/programmi/media/ContentItem-8ca149ea-9394-4f37-8c44-3be3a1f19ab2.html

"Ghosttown" instantly reminded me of Beyonce's "Halo"... It's very pretty, but very generic. I hope it does well for her since that's the type of track the general public loves. But she's 97-years-old to the general public, so they'll probably ignore her. The branding for this era is very romantic and baroque, and very much her, I really like it.

Still think she should give the general public and radio the middle finger and release "Holy Water", "Best Night", "Inside Out" and "Queen" in succession-- all with xxx-rated videos. Damn the insipid general public and the charts. Who advised her to keep that awful "S.E.X." but leave out the stunning "Queen"...????????? Can't believe the adorable "Never Let You Go" wasn't completed and included in the album-- while the sappy Disney-esque "Graffitti Heart" is....

The only movie of hers I really enjoy is "Truth Or Dare", but only because of the "Express Yourself" and "Keep It Together" footage from Blond Ambition. 25 years later, and I'm still utterly amazed at the level of showmanship and choreography from that tour.

I love "Ghosttown", and I hope it's released as an official single. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I'd love to see a beautiful music video that perfectly captures the mood of the song..like "Take A Bow" did. Fingers crossed.

Phuel, I assume you've heard the whole album? Or are these some of the leaked songs? I'll gladly buy the album soon, even if the songs don't really pique my interest that much.

^^^ Truth or Dare really isn't a film though, is it...? Apparently the entire production of those concert footages used in that doc is out there... Why that's not even released-- let alone the colossal Blond Ambition tour, is one of pop culture's true mysteries. Yeah, the opening and closer for that tour is perfection that's yet to be upstaged in any of her other tours-- or anyone's, for that matter. Along with those Gaultier creations and Vincent's choreography. And Donna and Niki by her side LOL

"Ghosttowm" is apparently the next single; she's filming the video next week. I wanted the "Ahhhh, Ahhhh, Ahhhhh, Ahhhhh, Ahhhhh" part to actually be "I".... but it's not-- which makes it even more unlikable to me. Bey's "Halo" sounds better to me.

"Never Let You Go" is a demo. Sounds like a Robyn track, but with the warm vocals and lush production of Bedtime Stories-- and a 90s House-piano over it. I guess "Queen" is a finished track, but I don't think it's mastered yet. The rest are album-tracks. Rebel Heart is a great effort, but definitely not one of her best for me. It's very mixtapes in its presentation, with no one musical style, but there is a concept: Songs from the "Rebel", and songs from the "Heart". Kind of a cop out really, as that's a concept that she's all about at the heart of her artistry.

Some of the best tracks on Rebel Heart for me have a classic R&B vibe, and hearken back to those days that I love about her. "Best Night" has that and samples "Justify My Love", "Holy Water" sounds like a Vanity track that samples... "Vogue", "HeartBreakCity" is classic motown and reminds me of "Stay", and the breezy Bollywood "Body Shop" is adorable. R&B-Madonna has always been my favorite musical side of hers. Just wished she still had her Blond Ambition-era husky voice...

Great interview with Howard Stern: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ePU_kGAnvQ

So refreshing to just listen to her talk so casually, and candidly, and not preachy with that husky voice back! It's close to an hour and a half.

The Outlook Magazine cover is great (except for the inclusion of that phony wannabe...)! Very late-80s Gaultier-campaign looking. Is it a new indie fashion publication, MDNA?

Thanks MDNA for the info-- very curious about the art direction of this publication... I hope it's sleek and clean. (And I'm a blind idiot it seems: It clearly states ISSUE 154!)

BTW, the costumes and styling are really perfection to me this era. I take back what I said about B.-- she's not that awful, after all. And seeing Aya and Bambi with her brings in such a sense of freshness to the dynamic of the choreography. I love it when M brings in-- and is influenced by her Asian collaborators. The Japanese girls, the romantic Spanish-baroque costumes and the classic R&B- flavor-- just effortlessly fantastic visually. No one else in the pop landscape can dream to even touch her this time, for me.

(Never cared for Ellen, but M's got to do what she's got to do to win over the mid-westerners, I suppose.)

This segment on Ellen was so hilarious. The things Madonna says ahaha
