It doesn't look like a new designer (vision) to me -- they've done that exact ribbed sweater zip dress in a short version, and the coats feel the same. The shoes are as boring as ever. It still feels confused, watered-down, and uninspired to me.

I do miss Margiela heyday but this new design is quite refreshing to me. It's clean and simple.

I don't mind clean and simple, but, take for instance that last look, The Row does similar and blows this out of the water. That's, tragic. Don't even get me started on those dresses. zZZZzzzz

this doesn't look in any way interesting enough to be Margiela nor does it look commercial enough to be desirable - I honestly wonder who be client for this is supposed to be. It's not the 'Margiela' woman anymore, but anybody else will just get their basics from one of the big cheap retailers, so who will want to buy this?

HA....that's exactly what i was thinking too. it's starting to feel like MMM is trekking down the helmut lang road. and even when they try to incorporate elements it looks like a complete joke. that cowl-neck tunic with the sleeve scarf attached....it just looks banal to me.

Did they get a new design director? It's been pretty solid for a few seasons now, this is a mess.

yeah they hired on this designer ivana omazic in november,who's a former design assistant at celine. i don't know much about her or background beyond celine though. not sure how much if at all her she plays into this particular collection but if this is the road they're taking any morsel of the MMM spirit is doomed.

regarding the zip ribbed sweater...
that is a margiela signature piece-
they always do some version of it and i hope they always will...
it's one of the best things that has ever come from this brand and one piece that i wish i owned...
*i was lucky enough to get a similar sweater from UU and that has only made me want the mmm version even more...

it's only prefall--- a good time to fill in some basics in your wardrobe...
i expect we'll see more fireworks during the shows...
that's the true tell...

Ugh...the past few seasons were much closer to what MMM was like, especially FW2011. This is just horribly dull. Omazic used to be an interesting designer herself, but looks like she's lost her edge too.

If they can't get MM to return, they should not put out any more mediocre collections that would drag the Maison down, but replace him with another young avant-garde, such as Vladimir Karaleev!

ivana omazic replace the former right hand of Martin Margiela ,Nina Nitsche. She worked for almost 19 years at MMM. Seems that big changes are happening.

Also the model has some sort of disgusted look on her face in some of the photos and it's turning off the clothes a bit tbh..
