Ok guys, the whole PD post got me to thinking. Last week i checked out Macy's with all the urban lines. Most are going into more tailored looks. There is another post here that touches the topic
but not specifically Marc Ecko.

Though he is an urban designer, he was tagger or Graffiti artist as a kid and took that into t-shirts
and then jeans and now has a fashion empire. I saw his line and thought Ok not bad looking. But all these seem to go in the same way after CK and DKNY.

Any thoughts anybody want to share? Clearly a bit diff background than PD, but does it end up the same? Riding on their status to become legitimate designers? Can he be considered a designer or just the head of a brand?

I like his new line, I saw the ads in GQ, and was confused as to whether or not it was the same Marc Ecko of the Ecko line :P I often purchase items from the Ecko collection, but I think my money will be better spent on key pieces from his new line :flower:

i ve always loved urban fashion i always think the ones who havenmt sold out..ala pdiddy are a breath of fresh air

It seems to me that this is the right way to go at the moment since menswear has started taking on a more tailored look but as long as he keeps the urban edge to it he should be ok.

i haven't seen the new stuff...but i always liked ecko and i also like triple 5 soul...
it's different...it's urban...but not hip hop ..per se... and i can relate to that a lot better...and i also just think it's cuter and cooler...i don't think a tennis jersey down to your knees and a pair of pants two-three sizes to big and bunched up around your super-white worn-only-once sneakers is a particularly good look...for anyone...

the ecko stuff always seemed to have an edge and it's own twist...
i'll have to look for the new stuff...maybe after having been in the business for a while he wants to take it to the next level...that seems reasonable...it seems as though he's got some style and a good eye for detail...and as a street artist, he has a good sense of colour... it's not completely unrelated...

I agree, I actually liked his stuff. His new collection does seem to take it the next level. It actually seems crafty and witty. Big stitches, hidden logos , yd appliques, and the ad campaign seems very well thought out. It will appeal to a new customer as well as old ones. Smart guy.

Collection starting now
