Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton : a documentary about the S/S 07 collections

i just watched it on sundance.

it was very interesting. it really made me remember all the work that goes into a collection.

random thoughts:
-marc smokes alot
- anna wintour is so mean, all she said to marc about the collection was that it was ok
- and i feel so bad that valda and tanya started crying from the make up.
-and i never knew those laundry bags were made from strips of leather woven together. no wonder it was so expensive.

Is it just me or did Tanya D and Irina L seem to be everywhere in that documentary? I loved it all, personally...it was a true backstage view to how a collection unfolds. Nothing is certain until its actually on the runway. Anna Wintour did seem standoff-ish......

no you are not alone, i thought tanya and irina where everywhere as well. and irina sure was partying in tokyo...

I noticed a lot of Vlada, but that's probably just because I dislike her. ^_^

I love how... intense they made that the part about the construction of the montage/collage bag. The music made is sound like they were saving a life or something.

dior_couture's link doesn't work for me either
the file is ".dsg" if i remember correctly
i dunno where i can open that kind of file anyhow...

It's a program for mac's only...so if you don't have a mac, maybe that's why it doesn't work. I have a windows computer, so the download link doesn't work for me either, but my friend has a mac and he uses it often, so maybe if you search that program somewhere else, and have a mac computer, you could download it.

If it doesn't work at all, period...sorry I've caused so much confusion!

I was chatting with my Mom the other day and she was telling me just how adorable she thinks Marc Jacobs is. I was like "wot?" Then she told me all about this documentary.

For those of you in the states with Comcast Digital, it's apparently available on Comcast On Demand in the Sundance free movies section.

And no, I've not seen it yet...

^ I watched it, it was nice ^_^ Made me like Marc Jacobs (the man, not the designer, whom I love) more

I don't know if someones already mentioned this, but I bought the dvd of this at the Marc Jacobs store in London today, it was £18 and the artwork is very cool, just watched it, and loved it.

I saw it two weeks ago and I think I commented in the "Great Fashion Documentaries" thread in Entertainment Spot.

Anyway, I loved this documentary. It was such an authentic view of how much work goes into putting on a show and creating a collection. Very, very realistic.

Plus, it was also really great to get to see a bit of how Marc works, and where he finds inspiration considering that he rarely mentions it publicly. That part with the Laduree macaroons and the multicolored button tote.

And I loved seeing how they achieved that faded, tattered and destroyed look for the s/s 07 collection. That was fantastic to see.

And yes, as others have noted, Marc smokes (or at least smoked back then) like a freakin chimney!

i enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would! i loved seeing his workroom and inspiration boards.

This documentary is amazing. Anyone who works in the industry can totally relate. He's awesome.
