Marc Jacobs S/S 04 New York

 :o

I absolutely adore this collection. Oooh the soft cotton, the velvet and the sillk. And the chiffon dresses! The photos were e-mailed to me earlier and the kind of wind washed, fair, dreamy color palette is simply lovely. So FRESH! I cannot wait to wear it.

And have you seen the collections by Oscar de la Renta (50's style, crispy dresses still going strong), Luca Luca (I'm so getting one of those apricot silk dresses with a deep, heavy neckline), Luella (Dead cute Chanel-style jacket and cream colores minis with front pockets), Chaiken (time to match the bikini, the shirt AND the dress for the beach), Betsey Johnson (crazy but fun!), DKNY (gorgeous colors and flowy fabrics…), Monique Lhuillier, Bcbg Maz Azria (surprised me! I love love the vute, innocent but still sexy indigo sailor look)

My favorites?
DvF and Vasseur Esquivel! And I also have a huge crush on Jennifer Nicholsons pink princess dress with the BIG bow.

It looks like it'll be all about PERFECTLY MATCHING next spring… Mmm!

:( I wish I could illustrate with pics, but I don't know if I can put them out here…

Wow, I just noticed they're all avaliable down here or at Style.com.

It's a very pretty collection, but I thought it was too long and by the end of viewing the pics @ Style, I was getting sick of all the pastel satin and chiffon. I loved a lot of the individual pieces but I don't think it was Marc at his strongest. It seemed like a 'greatest hits' collection of the past four years, rolled into one and doused in soft colors.

I liked it! It wasn't 100% new but it's not the same old same old that I've seen for the past few seasons on Jacobs runway. I love the bermuda shorts and rolled shorts I thought they looked fab. I agree it was a bit long but it was fabulous. Not necessarily innovative but I'm sick of the oversized buttons, typical marc stuff. i was happy to see this!

again.. same old stuff, nothing new!! Same old Marc and seriously I cannot see myself in a "flower" dress!! My bf alone would have a heart attack! LOL!

;) definetly agree

its was all nice, nice tops nice dresses, but that about it

a very light collection, perfect for the spring and summer of 2004 i guess. its nothing outstanding, but definately feminine, gentle and conservative.

Good observation, Acid. B)

I personally didn't find anything incredible about this collection. It seemed too sweet and looked a tad bit like Ralph Lauren's previous S/S collection. I'm also a little biased because it's not my style at all.

Sort of dissapointed, he could have done so much better. His last two collections were outstanding and influential for the past seasons.

The clothes, yes, were very repeated and was tiring to see. Too laid back and no new ideas were seen. The pastel chiffon seemed passed from last Spring's collection and yes, as Astrid said, some Ralph Lauren (S/S '03) influences. The satin, on the other hand, was passed from Fall's mod spectacular and made it appropriate by putting some floral prints.

But maybe he did this because he needs more time to work on soemthing new for Fall? Maybe, but his Fall ('04) collection is one to watch. ;)

I agree with Chick on Speed, Andora & others, too many floral dresses & pastels. but i'm sure they will sell very well, many East Side girls wear ONLY stuff like this. i would wear some skirts &
tops, probably.

it's kinda of pretty in a sort of "I'm going to watch a polo match in the afternoon" way. not marc's best, but I think I like it better than his past two collections. I see some stuff in here that I would wear. it's very preppy... I like the polo shirts and lightweight cable jumpers, and some of the dresses are a bit nice. very light and innocent. :flower:

marc jacobs Tuesday show is sexier in the video:

the girls are goosestepping hard to beyonces crazy in love in a punk/guitar version and they all hop and bounce with their boobs juggling up & down boom boom (it sounds like a Janes addiction/beyonce mashup!!}

gissy, anouck, julia, linda v, louise sara z & others are like perky lil booby bouncers stomp stomping

the diaphanous fabric moves beautifully, like shimmering sundresses

look at anoucks first outfit in the pics her boobs are absolute perfection

also elise is so confident and daria so self possessed its erotic to watch them move.

louise is an absolute dream, I swear she is 100% perfect I find her flawless

Im glad marc got his marbles together after last seasons mod nightmare

gissy is sexy but doesnt smile at all

what is hilary swank wearing???

my opinion of this show is that it is rather dull.

it looks like a jcrew catalogue.

i can always find a few pieces in any collection that i like. and i do believe that there are some lovely dresses scattered about in this collection- namely the beaded ones and the silver velvet ones... but, although, there are some nice pieces, the rest of it is overwhelmingly bland. it looks like the younger sister of the calvin show.

i also don't find these designs to be flattering, not even on the models. and the ones that are, would only look good on a model.

Gisele backstage *lol* just had to share this one with you: :flower:
