There is a way to redeem this Marc Jacobs show from the dustbin - it's pure kitsch.
Kitsch is something we're called to react to this season in several places. And you can see this offering as an extension of the deliberate bad taste language of Louis Vuitton SS11.
This extension as a deconstructive pastiche of Bob Fosse, Galliano, and the very idea of taking retroism seriously.
I had this thought the day after the show but on reviewing the stills just couldn't reconcile myself to it's costume party tackiness. But, in movement, when the light bounces off those shiny artificial surfaces, you do more so get the unreality, the surrealism of it. Unless in the pages of a magazine, not really clothes to be viewed from a real world perspective.
