Marc Jacobs S/S 05 New York

I adore the sweaters and the skirts. And the colours are perfect as well, as are the shoes! (as always). I do however think that Marc seems to be getting a bit lazy. More and more it seems to be the case with him that I can just buy an item of clothing and keep it for the next season, only dye it another color.
I still love his clothes though, but it just seems to be getting less original each season.

i liked these: and the layered skirts. not much else though. it really is unoriginal :yuk: knockoffs of everyone else's designs w/ a bit of alterations.

really really like the blue dress on the right . not keen on th eleft - looks like a pierrot outfit!

BORING THAN THE LAST MARC COLLECTION I SAW!!Which is actually quite bad!!!!!!

I just read in the Instyle issue Marc Jacobs saying LIL KIM is his muse!?????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!????????

I am still in a state of shock. And no it's not a joke. The article is about the Fashion Group International's night of Stars awards Gala. Marc Jacobs selected Lil' Kim as his muse. I am quoting Marc's words: " Not a day goes by that I don't listen to Kim's music in my design studio. She's an inspiration."

He also added:"Getting an award is one thing, but I feel like the prize of the evening was escorting Kim to this event."

:ninja:

She looks like a frumpy black Betty Page in those pictures..
THAT'S Quiet a change !

Li'l Kim....in a full dress??? this is foreign to me.

I gotta say the collection has really grown on me. I love the little party dresses at the end. Can't say I like anything else, but I think the colors are great. The layered, crinkled taffeta party dresses are really pretty and I love the shoes. I think the best thing is the color, they're just what you think of when you think sprind summer, tropical, bright and upbeat.

Lol, it is amazing, isn't it?! Really...am I looking at Lil Kim' without diverting my eyes in utmost shame? It's totally a new thing for me, I feel dizzy...

Completely boring and not innovative at all, hate it.
I don't like the color palette either.

yep...there was an article in WWD about her new clothing line, and she said he was consulting her on it. :innocent:

a very interesting pairing to say the least

i think some of the dresses and cardigans are really pretty...good retro 50s look. i'm as much drawn to the simple fashions as i am to some of the really extravagant stuff, and i think he does a good job on that end of the spectrum. i'm never a huge fan of those really bright colors though, but i do like the primary thing he did.

that simple black dress though, i'm a huge fan of. maybe different neckline.

I mean is Marc Jacobs' joking, Lil Kim is like supposed to be a designer's biggest nightmare.

Lil Kim?! But how? His clothes don't reveal a lot of skin, I can hardly imagine Lil Kim would like his clothing.

This collection is very disappointing indeed especially since I liked a few pieces from the Vuitton fall show he did. The colors are beautiful no doubt but nothing exciting or remotely different. As someone said before, not to be redundant, but a very uninspiring collection indeed.

Agreed with the majority of the panel. As a collection whole, I did like this show due to the colors and the very vintage appeal, but as separate pieces, they were way too bland and unoriginal. Very boring, lacking any creativity besides those dresses which I just don't think would flatter many women anyways.

i beg to differ with most of the posts on this board. i love it. i love the collection. it's beautiful, as always. the shape, the colors, the fact that they're basic shapes but little additions of his make them unique and different. i love it. it's not to fancy and it's not to everyday. and yet it's not average. his collections are always hard for me to describe. but i love it.

<3 me.
