fashionista, I don't think they were able to fix the metallic problem. I was interested in a metallic bronze I saw on ebay a while ago and everyone on the other forum told me not to get it because of the leather rubbing off. I'm glad I went for mouse instead. It's much easier to carry because you don't have to be careful all the time. Once I saw a metallic Balenciaga that had been worn and it was in a really bad condition so I assume that all metallics have this problem. I still think that there are enough nice colors to choose from at the moment.

Oh, i haven't seen the colour personally but it sounds divine! metallic plum!!

I'm not sure there have been any improvements on the metallic (though i'm not speaking from experience obviously as i don't have one of the new ones myself), but i know there have been really bad reports about it rubbing off in the past as GG said. I'd be wary if i were you. Best to go with a matte or patent version- to be honest they're probably more classic and versatile anyway.

Boots~ you've inspired me to take some new pics of my stam. I've been in a bit of a slump lately, just totally exhausted from all the stress with school, that all i've wanted to wear was sweats, beanies and sweatshirts....and that's not all that fashionable. But i just got a cut dress, so i'll take some soon

It's like handbag crack or something, this metallic Looks to me like they're trying to ensure anyone can only carry these bags for a season (Or less, I don't know how long it takes to ruin the finish, probably more like weeks instead of months.)

I bought a pair of bronze shoes, and a pair of silver, and I see far more wear on the insoles of the bronze--and I think I've worn them less. I think the bronze may be particularly bad ...

the only way i can describe it is like having two finishes of car paint. blackish-brown as a base coat and then puting gold dust over it. then you go and start pouring like acetone on the car paint and it just getting all splotchy and icky....i saw one bronze on ebay that was well worn....and the seller said she had only worn it a handful of times...so sad, especially when your paying so much!

^ Ah ... my shoes are a different color, I call it rose gold ... but I thought it was called bronze on the box?? It's metallic peach ... I know MJ used the same leather for bags, but not 100% certain whether Stam came in it.

by the way, has anybody actaully seen or own a petrol stam? what color am i suppose to expect when I get it? does it look exactly like Lindsay's (very icy, royal bluish) or dark tealish which several people mentioned would be like?

PS Checked the boxes ... the colors I have are brandy (rose gold) and nickel.

petrol is like a deep teal, but it's more greenish blue in the nappa leather than the icey. the color is more bluish-green in the icey and a bit darker and richer....i think...

i thought that article was funny too. yes, a stalker amongst us...i was the member in dec of 2005 who removed pics of herself....because some evil seller on ebay took them and listed a fake with my pics and said it was her sister. you better bet i reported her dishonest behind to ebay too!
