here's a pic of the quilted stella (from barneys.com)

I was at Nordies today and saw the Sophia w/those chain handles, and oy.....just can't go there. Not even an inch. I love the Stella, but just not w/the chain thing going on. Ouch.

MABBAB, i just bought a plum Stella from www.netaporter.com, you wont believe it but they are on SALE, white, limegreen and plum. I just wonder if Plum is still fashionable ........having mixed feelings.....what do you think??

Just saw it, man, if it had the 'antiqued brass hardware' I would love it......but I just can't do the pushlocks anymore....

As for it being fashionable, I think that color is amazing, but I think the Stella is not as hot as she used to be.....but that's only my opinion. I still have one stella that I probably keep forever, the white one w/burgandy suede lining and antiqued brass hardware. I sold all my others.

Is the pic that Missy44x (post #27) posted... the large stella? i was considering the chloe paddington, but the lock makes the bag so heavy. i saw this stella bag on ebay... do you guys think its authentic?

Hmm...well first of all, the zipper looks broken in the third pic. Second, it looks kinda cheap, and third, I wouldn't trust eBay. :) But that's jsut my opinion.

That looks authentic to me but keep in mind, the Stella is heavy as well and if it has the suede lining, it's even heavier.

The zipper isn't broken, it's purposely designed to 'unzip' so the bag opens up more.

hi esile, i think the bag looks authentic. but if you are looking for a bag that is lighter than a paddington, this one may not be a good choice. i have never held a paddington, but i have a stella and i dont carry it very much because it is so heavy. cute bag though, and very functional if you carry around a lot of stuff with you!

i agree with you both, lduv143 and mammab...the stella bag may be a bit heavy too. however, i think it is not as heavy as the paddington. i'm looking for a large bag that i can put lots of things in thats not too heavy... there's plenty of bags made of cloth or microfiber, but i'm looking for something in leather... any suggestions?

well, i think that the balenciaga work or hobo style bag would be good, the leather is so light and thin that it would only be too heavy if you stuffed it. and they are both very big bags. check out the everything balenciaga thread and you will see a million posts from other people who also love that bag!!

Had to search a bit to find this thread. I just wanted to post about my latest buy - I decided to go for a classic Stella as my new spring bag, in antique white with the original brass buckle hardware:

(from Neiman Marcus website)

Here it is in the original ad campaign with Stella Tennant - I think it is a lovely classic, and just right for me:

congrats on your new stella youngprof! i absolutely love the original stella, with the brass hardware/buckles...so hard to find these... :flower:

lovely but be careful about color transfer. I wore my first season white stella with a red juicy tracksuit and ended up with a pink bag.

Thanks for the warning, lilygirl! I know, white bags require that extra bit of care - I have a lovely light tan bag that picked up quite a bit of color from a new pair of jeans.

Youngprof, thanks for the "vintage" photo. I have that classic Stella with brass buckles in both black and white and they are fabulous. Congrats!

Is yours as big as the one in the campaign ad? I like that size! Big bags are so in right now.

Yes, that is the size of the Stella. It is a big tote, but I like that it works on the shoulder, as well.

I am thinking of purchasing the stella in the quilted leather. I am not sure about the color, black or the beige/ivory? I really like the ivory but am worried I will ruin the leather. If your clothes do transfer color on to the bag, can you clean it off? It is much lighter than the original stella. The price is making me hesitate, $1300. What does everyone think?

My Stella arrived! I love it, it is just gorgeous!

Sandra, color transfer is very hard to fix (although a good professional leather cleaning service might be able to do something), so if you are very worried, maybe a darker color is better. I've just resigned myself to being very careful with my white bag.

So I bought the quilted stella last night from Neiman's. I went back and forth with the black and taupe. I took the black...but I am still not sure. Also, I love the chain straps but I find it hrad to wear them. Does anyone else have this problem? I am not sure if I should keep it. I love it but am not sure I love it enough for 1400 with tax!!!
