Marilyn was curvy for most of her career but she lost a LOT of weight in the last year of her life and she got to be quite tiny.They estimate around a size 8 uk.
It's also important to remember sizes were different in those times...so when they say she was a size 16 it doesn't mean she was actually today's size 16.
I don't think she was ever bigger than a uk 12/14 because I read an article a few years ago by a size uk 12 journalist who once got the opportunity to try one of Marilyn's dresses on and it fit her perfectly.
Albeit curvy, Marilyn was rather small even when she was chunkier, so I doubt she ever was a US size 16. 12 is more like it, possibly 14. And when she was younger and during her last year she was probably a size 6/8.
