help, i know i'm a bit late but which one is marilyn? i'd say is the younger, the blonder but i'm not sure, does anyone know? thanks a lot!
by the way thanks for all the pics, this thread is just amazing !♥

lol,

She's the one on the bottom with blond and longer hair. The other child is her cousin Ida Mae, 1 year younger, daughter of the brother of the mother of Marilyn.
I hope I make myself clear...

^^^^oh those are lovely. I love the story from andré in his book about those pictures. he took some of the best pictures of marilyn. just like he photographed her soul.

Tony, thank you for the Dienes photos of Marilyn :flower:! I find those photos interesting because they show totally a differend side of Marilyn, her vulnerability.

syear she seems so scared. i remember reading about this shooting, a night she couldn't sleep... her life was pretty sad actually as long as she was to clever to be Marilyn Monroe and just take it easy.it must be very hard to be marilyn monroe !

I watched 'Don't Bother To Knock' the other day, she was brilliant in the role. I always thought she was a great comedianne, but she can do serious roles, well too.

despite what some people say i think she was a great actress!

i find her a great actress as well. and she tried really hard to be recognized as one, too bad people never took her seriously

Yeah, me too. And she had WAY more personality/intrigue than over half of the actresses I've seen in modern film so far.

yeh they didnt take her seriously due to the roles she played....

I don't think Marilyn was a great actress in the technical sense but her ability to project raw emotion and sensitivity was amazing. I just feel warmth when I watch her, the on-screen charisma and magnetism she possessed was something even the most skilled of actors couldn't master. The best directors of her time attested to it, even Charlie Chaplin referred to her as "the greatest female clown".

Unfortunately, it's never been en vogue to praise the ability of sex symbols noted for light comedy, even though it's often said that comedy is more challenging than drama.

I think, in general, she is underrated. The fact that she's a pop icon doesn't help either.

Thanks so much lady stardust! Especially love the Prince and the Showgirl pic. Love the dress Elsie wore.
