Martin Margiela - Designer

At least can he show his face first?

Bad luck is tormenting fashion this year.... Great summer season until now though...

this assertion.....i find it rather mean-spirited,for some reason. and to say such a thing, thinking we know nothing of mmm and that fact that margiela has and always has been he AND his team,is rather silly. why do you think his team presents and does the speaking?

anyway,i hope it isn't true. would be difficult to take having margiela designed under somebody other than he himself. elusive or not.

This is turning out to be a bittersweet and weird fashion weeks... some really great collections but too many rumors of leaving. Makes my head hurt!

all the pieces he did with the semi couture dressmakers form completely captivate me...
i just love the whole thing...
the fabric, the texture, the colour, the words printed on the fabric...

there is a designer vintage shop near me that also sells some previous season designer pieces and they have a halter top from that fabric...
same inspiration...
it's really cool but i think it would be hard to wear---
or maybe you could wear it like and apron...???.....

anyway- i think that a lot of these more artisinal pieces are best admired from afar...
the more recent stuff is just so much more realistic and comfortable...
i don't care if it's not as 'artsy'...

i mean..obviously the broken plate vest is really awesome and beautifully arranged and put together..
but if you saw anyone wearing that on the street you'd think they had just escaped from the loony bin......

in the end...i don't even like some of the artsy stuff...
i remember some of the early stuff- all made out of socks...
i didn't like that so much....:ninja:

it's like deconstructed mugler...
totally cool and creative and incredibly artfully executed...
but completely impossible to wear in real life...
:(

i found this on copyright bookshop's(in antwerp)website

at least you know if you're in paris or antwerp and you happen to see a guy looking particularly margiela stylish and wearing a greek sailor's hat, could be him ;) he wears that hat all the time.

Margiela he's not that mysterious;I've seen like 3 or 4 pictures of him and a friend of mine who worked at MMM told me that he was super nice.

^i've seen a photo of him too...when he attended the trade show for indies, bread & butter, in barcelona. it actually confirmed my curiosity as they captured him wearing this exact same hat. i posted it somewhere in this thread,in fact.

maybe they were wrong....he's so elusive i don't think anybody can identify him. but that one in the article may indeed be him because it actually looks like an image i saw in harper's bazaar way back when wearing an iggy pop t.
