bearbrick,it really depends on what you're talking about. i mean he does have three different main collections with the main women's,women's basics called '6' and then the men's '10'. i certainly wouldn't say artisanal was underwhelming in any shape. but it also really depends on the shops too. sometimes especially in america,buyers almost always get the safest things compared with say most in japan.

btw,i don't think rosso necessarily dictates everything...he does only share a certain percentage and margiela still opens his flagships in pretty quiet locations of each city.

Renzo Rosso gets on my nerves so badly. He has his place, I guess, but I read this interview with him in i-D earlier in the year (the Björk issue?) and everything he said reeked of verbal diarrhea.

can someone confirm if maison martin margiela is going to open a new flagship at omotesando in tokyo?

i dont know why but it makes me sad to hear this news (if it is true).

doesnt mm only have their stores at relatively obscure places, be it belgium, paris, hong kong or even tokyo.
somehow i am not quite liking how the japanese run mm, with all the collaboration with mainstream magazines, giving away freebies and what nots.
it ll be shocking to see mm having a store next to gucci and louis vuitton.
but mm has a super big customer base in tokyo so i guess they have the say, and then there is diesel the big shareholder.

I think the store won't be on Omotesando dori, but in the small street in Aoyama. maybe around where CdG is etc.

if mmm keeps some spirit, opening a store there at this time sounds right in a way because we have had enough of those stores located at out-of-the-way places which were supposed to be cool, one of the originators of that idea vivienne westwood ages ages ago.
margiela next to gucci would now entertain some of even old margiela fans.
entertaining factor is important.

anyway the fact you can see on the street from this month is the new store's neighbor downstairs is chanel.

Saw the store just now with super brightly lit lights inside the store despite its being closed already with chanel and bvlgari below.
Name of building is GYRE.
will go check it out tomorrow if free, they are having a MoMa Design Store above the MMM store now.
