Martin Margiela S/s 05

The heeled sandals with interchangeable straps are at AlohaRag.com now.

Margiela has never been a designer I have bought.
I appreciated the concepts behind the clothes and thought they were interesting, but the finished product often "Fell short".
That being said, he still has some amazing pieces from time to time but most of what I've seen has been for women.

Space, I was looking at those shoes on the net earlier.
They are beautiful.

I think people will have to accept that Margiela isn't the avant-garde boy he was 10 years ago, but he is a man with a company to take care of. This results in a more serious, wearable and therefore accessible approach. Every year they slightly twisted and changed the house from its original approach, I actually think that whole process is interesting. Let's not forget it's a brand and although the approach is very different from most luxury firms it's also part of their marketing, brand image and customer base. Without sales there's no Margiela.

deconstruction is not a trend, its a 'way' a technique of making one's statement, my problem is that its been repeating itself for what seems like entire decades.. what annoys me is when some designers (not talking of MMM god forbid) act as if they've 'discovered' deconstruction, as if it's the 'new' thing or somekind of 'fresh' or revolutionary idea...
hope you get my point here.

Rei and Yohji were doing it since the early eighties while others were into day glo and shiny lipsticks, and they did it very well at that time.
Obsession with deconstruction, its not a bad thing for a consumer, but it can be dangerously 'stagnant' for a designer. Dont get me wrong

YAY LENA...!!......
very well-said... :flower: ...completley agree...

thanks softgrey - I love it too. There are a number of great MMM pieces on aloharag.com. They are very versatile I think.

Lovely:-) It is asymetrical. I thought that the cardigan has symetric front. It is even better:-)

This collection is honestly just beyond hideous. I mean, look at this:

...How could anyone seriously purchase something like this? It's absolutelly horrid.

I love the party shoes
Wish I could get them in gold

From aloharag:
After-Party Pumps
This sparkly Martin Margiela collection line high-heel was created with a very interesting concept. The pump has been specifically altered to look as if the shoe has been worn during a crazy night of partying. After having such a fun night, the sparkling glitter on the lame (fr) is peeling off and the bottom of the heel is curled up.

 What's the big deal about that? What about collections like Galliano Homme, DSquared, Andrew MacKenzie, etc.? I'm in far greater disbelief that anyone would buy that stuff than this. This just seems kinda normal to me, as far as runway collection weirdness goes. Not necessarily that attractive, in my opinion, but not offensively ugly and unwearable.
