Mom said, "The epitome of it all was that she [the wife] asked him to choose between his kids and his bike. He had won enough Tour de Frances to just settle down and raise his kids. He chose his bike instead."

yeah it's ridiculous. I read an interview of him in Readers Digest when he was still married to her and he was saying how she pulled him out of his stump and got him to start "doing something with himself instead of sitting around watching TV and eating Mexican food" after his diagnosis. She's the reason why he even bothered kicking the cancer and biking again. He should've just stayed with her. She did more for him than sheryl or ashley ever could.
