Personally I thought of Geoffrey Beene and Zoran, the American Minimalists.

Oh coolness...so that's where jesuisamy.com got the Miyake images from! Thanks for the link to his journal. Yes, there is a minimalist aesthetic, some of early Beene and Zoran but I find Ames method quite complex in this collection mostly because of the bi-polar colored panels worked diagonally into the balloon/coccoon shapes, eg the black and red balloon pants, b/w balloon dress. Even with computer visualization, it's not so easily done! He makes it look effortless, and better, takes the mind off to an even farther, dreamier place. He's certainly progressed, and hasn't let up. I really like that he pushes the envelope, new materials, new shapes, new colors, while staying true to his own core.
