Matthieu Blazy - Designer, Creative Director of Chanel

they had no youtube that time so when you were a "nobody" it just means people have not seen your work. In this times, if you have handled BV and still a "nobody" it means you will stay like that unless you turn things around.

^^^Karl was nobody until the late phase of him at Chloé, so I don't thing that's a big deal.
His breakthrough work for Chloe was in 1965 and he already declined Chanel in 70’s but stayed at Chloe until 1983. So at what point he became somebody?
He was already well known alongside Sonia Rykiel and Kenzo.

C’mon, not people sweating because it’s gonne be “miNImalisT”, like Coco Chanel herself wasn’t on that spectrum, 2000s Karl (my favourite decade of him) was anything but extravaganza and maximalist, Alaia/Grès/Cristobal/Dior were all minimal leaning, Armani’s aesthetic was on the opposite spectrum of flamboyance and loudness etc, Issey and many more great designers!

I mean your fashion can totally be glamorous and minimal at the same time, just use dialectical methodology instead of metaphysicalizing everything.

You guys are expecting Blazy to be next Lacroix/Galliano or sth?

« Our house, in the middle of the street »? Lol.
The thing about Chanel is that Karl had explore the case in such ways that I don’t expect to be disappointed. He literally explored the 20s to the 18th century. He did Dior-esque Chanel collections, 60s inspired, from minimalism to maximalism.

It’s really not like Raf for example. Galliano did 2 seasons of Minimalism for example so there was something to explore there.

Chanel is doing a dinner for the clients who travelled the day before the show. The energy is buzzing.

More humorous than do you dare enter the house of dior.

The whole house of chanel hanging on a chain….
