Matthieu Blazy - Designer, Creative Director of Chanel

Like think about it, you get super emotional and start crying, first thing you think is getting your phone out of your pocket, opening your camera and record a video FOR TikTok while you cry and hug people.
Sadly is the state of the world now and the younger generations...they need to record everything! it is crazy, of course not everyone but that and a high level of excitement after the week or the month can lead you to do such things....

Imagine Fury's rant on ig and he is almost 43 lol...

Anyway...anything to get a like,a follow or become viral right?....

I don’t understand the crying and recording ( but I’m German so… )

As for the Queen closing, Awar was interviewed and she said it was genuine. Of course that is probably what they want us to believe, but she doesn’t come off as a liar. I say that like I know her haha Wasn’t she also dancing in the Gucci SS 2025 Finale? Either way it was a great moment for her as well!

It makes total sense for production crew of the house for sure.

But models crying with each other and recording themselves, is a different kind of cringe. its like girl you just came from another show, did you do the same there? 😭 Which leads me to the next question, are these girls muses of Blazy?
Awar is his muse since BV, reason why she probably closed and felt comfortable enough to dance at the end.

But the others models, I don’t know…

It’s ridiculous to be cynical about everything so I won’t read too much into it. A first show is always emotional.

I wasn’t in the room. The few people I know who attended the show said to me that the mood was really uplifting.

It was a nice show, Matthieu had his moment. That’s all.
It’s great publicity for Chanel like some others houses had in the past.

People will hate no matter what. If everyone backstage was crying at a Hedi show it would be different messages in here hahaha

And that's it! Last show of this month, first show for many, including the CD. Awar was comfortable and confirmed it was not planned. The others were just emotional, If I got emotional at home seeing her smiling and clapping, imagine if you are literally there. It's cringe to film it, but well, it's young people, they film everything.

This is such a non-problem

I'm a very cynical person and I would like everyone involved to take a lie detector test and give sworn affidavits. We need 60 minutes on the case.

It's physically possible that it's all innocent and unscripted, just not how marketing usually operates. Models are told where to walk and how, and departing from the script is now celebrated? Many backstage areas prohibit social media posts too.

That it reads as cringe, fake and too obvious is the one thing that would support it just being young people being young.

On the other hand, if they are now paying for cringe sentimentalism I'm happy to offer my services. I watched the show twice and cried both times. And danced. :band:

What was she supposed to say though?
But Chanel certainly won this round of the PR campaign (over Dior).
Let's see if it translates to bottom line.
It sounds to me that sales people right now are more nervous than us

Staged or not (it wasn’t) it was beautiful!

cringe is saying “cringe”

So go to the show door with your lie detector and ask around! Why not? Great idea!

Until you find out that the Shalom Harlow's moment at McQueen was also not rehearsed and that Bella's moment at Coperni also wasn't. I would have the same opinion that they were beautiful moments rehearsed or not, but it's not like models can't do anything out of the script, specially if you're opening/closing the most important Chanel show in decades. Very very often, the chosen photographs for editorials are the ones where they are not consciously posing or when they smile, or when they move their hands or head in a non-previously thought out way. That one moment when they are just being themselves is usually the moment we like the most.

And maybe put your hopes down, if you don't like Blazy's aesthetic you probably won't like his Chanel, because it's his Chanel, not Karl's Chanel and not even Gabrielle's. And he's probably not going anywhere, think twice you want to be that "cringed" for the next 10 to 15 years.

I gave this show a 7/10 in my head, but seeing all these comments makes me wanna give it a 10/10, because it made me pay more attention and see the details (a fan the crochet tweed). Now I'm loving it!

Plus we're in 2025. It's "cringe" to say "cringe"

I liked the crochet too.

When I say cringe I mean insincere seeming, cheesy, corny... (I'm not a native English speaker.)

Anyways if it works for them, great. I find it alienating and will probably continue to question this line of social media bait.

Questioning is great, so if you're happy that's good.
I can't when I dislike. I stopped watching/commenting on Prada several seasons ago because it was just plain non sense to me and I can't cope with it until Raf leaves (but again, Miu Miu was a disaster this season for me so I don't know anymore 🤣)

Maybe people are skeptical because catwalk these days tend to be very mechanical. But I think Chanel is one of the few houses where there is no iron law against smilling.

Now I'm curious about the campaign.

I like the smiling. It fits Chanel very well. Made the show feel like a celebration! Maybe a new era of smiling in campaigns is coming :)

The moment was absolutely genuine, you have to be blind to not see it. It also elevated the shows and the clothing would have looked a whole lot less miserable and flaccid if some of the other models took note.

I think the crying was unrelated to the show, apart from it being the last major show of the season. Seems like it was a reaction to the end of a month-long period of fairly grueling labour (spread across two continents and four cities), which is also a period of intense socialization with one's friends/peers/colleagues. I'd probably cry a little knowing that a) I was getting a break from the breakneck schedule of casting & runway, and b) I was saying goodbye (until next season) to the people I'd just seen regularly for a month. Modeling can be alienating and difficult, especially for younger models and models working across language barriers, so uh, yeah, probably quite a bit of emotion to release.
