Just wondered, which are the right places to take your waist/hip/etc measurements? I was bored, and this question has been on my mind for ages, just never had time to ask.

Don't know if this helps...

Height:
Stand up very straight against a wall and have someone use a ruler, hardcover book, or some other straight edge to make a mark even with the top of your head. You can also do this alone in front of a mirror. Measure the distance from the floor to the mark on the wall.

Waist: Measure around your natural waist line, where you would normally wear a belt. This is higher on women than it is on men.

Chest: Measure all the way around your body just under the arms and across your shoulder blades. The measuring tape or string should be firm and level.

Inseam: With your legs straight, measure from just under your ankle bone straight up the inside of your leg to your crotch. Alternatively, you can measure a pair of pants that fit you well: Lay them flat, with the front and back creased smooth. Measure along the inseam from crotch to the bottom of the leg hem.

Neck: Measure around your neck. The measuring tape or string should be firm and level. Alternatively, you can measure a shirt collar that fits you well: Lay collar flat and measure from the center of the collar button to the center of the button hole on the other end.

Almost forgot hips!

Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips. If the tape can easily be moved up and down, it's around the fullest part (this is usually about 7 to 8 inches below the natural waist line).
