Drinking

If you're prone to hangovers then do this: before bed, drink a bottle of water, try to sleep by an open window (if it's not too cold). The water will rehydrate you and the fresh air will help your head (and also with the smell of your room - you wine drinkers know what I'm talking about). ;)
That should help a bit.

Definitely!!! the smell!

Also, taking painkillers is a great idea, makes you less hungover in the morning!

I use to be a skinny minnie and never had hangovers then i went to uni gained weight and before i knew it i couldnt get out of bed before 1pm cause of my terrible hangovers and then I'm sick for the rest of the day!
Oh well i still drink- I enjoy it then regret it in the morning!

Those are quite interesting posts! When you guys say glasses, do you mean like shots? I was a bit confused. Wow, so i guess its 50/50, you either dont get hungover, or you want to die. The other day i got reeeeeally drunk at my friends house, i had about 8-10 shots of Appleton Jamaican Rum (40%). I guess i had too much, because i kept falling off the couch and picking fights when i couldnt even stand up. Everyone laughed, i even have some cellphone videos of me. When i got to my other friends house, i yakked all over her bed... Also for some reason, whenever i smelled pot or cigarettes the day after, i had a huge urge to puke, i dont know why. Do you guys think thats a lot or a little i had, compared to you?? Thanks for the interesting posts!

does anyone know how many calories are in a bottle of wine?

i have drank rather alot of them this week and it would be nice to know!

I used to get hungover all the time since I am on the skinny side. Now I just make myself drink "shots" (drinking water in shots just makes it easier for me personally to drink a ton of water but glasses of it work just the same of course) of water before I go to bed and I'm usually fine the next morning. The only things that give me serious hangovers are beer and tequila.

^ Thats a funny question, and i was thinking of the same thing. I wonder if its like in the range of having a coke or more... Wonder where the calories come from, anyway. And, do you guys have your alcohol with chasers? I personally dont need any, i never do. Alcohol doesnt even taste that strong to me for some reason...

OK I checked the calories in a fluid ounce (21 for red wine) and then did the calculations for a standard bottle of 750mL.. and a bottle of red comes to approx 525. It's only slightly less for white wine (500 or so). But dessert wines can have almost twice as much!!

i never got hungover when i was younger but now im getting older the effects are getting worse it sucks!

Totally agree!!I was going to write exactly the same thing!

the problem is that when you're getting older you can't sleep all day, you have to go up and go to work in the morning..I dont like this at all..tomorrow's gonna be horrible cos I'm going out tonight and even if I say I wont drink so much I know how much I like it..and I'll get back home at 3..

My alcohol tolerance has always pretty much been the same... a little higher in college, when I partied a little more than I do now. Now I drink once, MAYBE, rarely, twice a week... and it's binging. I know it's bad, but, that's what a lot of us kids do when we head out to the bars. :)

I started drinking when I was 17 (unbeknownst to my parents), and got hangovers fairly easily. Not horrible ones, but I would amost always have a headache the next day. It's still like that for me today, I'm 22. But again, I don't go out and just have a drink or two... it's a little more than that. ;)

They say that the real dark liquors give you a worse hangover, and the real dark beers. That's why I always try to stay with the "lighter" stuff. And they say to have a glass of water for each shot/beer you have, but who wants to be chugging away at water when you're out dancing and having a good time? And rarely do I have the energy to gulp down a couple glasses of water before I get to bed. I'm too tired, usually... :innocent:

I'm not much of a drinker, I might take a drink when there is something special to celebrate (which I do love). Since I'm orginially from Europe, but reside here, I tend to apply the European drinking age to myself ;) . I love a cosmopolitan, miami vice, white wine, and pina colada (I got hooked on them while on a trip to Mexico). Never had a hangover.......to tell the truth I'm VERY MUCH alcohol tolerant :innocent: . But I do seem to get 'love-y' when I had a bit to much.

Tell me about it! A year and a half ago I was kind of depressed and bored a lot so after dinner, until I went to sleep I would sip on wine and snack on Smartfood popcorn (very cheesy and fattening LOL) .. I swear I gained like 10 lbs in a month! I only drink when I go out now (and keep my dinner small), or just a glass of wine with dinner once in a while if I'm having something special.

I had 2 liters of water (!) when I got back home tonight..and I feel really OK today (woke up with some stomch ache though...) just so tired but thats fine..

A lot of alcoholic drinks have much more calories than you would think... That's why I only drink vodka these days!
