Miu Miu Resort 2015 : Natalie Westling by Jamie Hawkesworth

Another great shot ! The compostiton and the colors are so great

does adding a landscape next to the actual photo ad a new trend to get more double front ad placements ? or is it just a new trend ? or a new way to do a book for photographers - who desire to do more than just fashion ?

aren't more brands doing this now ?

i like that ...
they are often more interesting than the campaign itself ....

did Jamie shoot both the studio and outdoor still images?

even though still life photography is very trendy now, as far actual name recognition for the still photographers themselves, even in most mainstream fashion editorial publications, they're usually snubbed or when they are credited, it's still often in microscopic print, jammed into the binding of the magazine.

probably in the minority but Jamie's work does nothing for me. his images are pleasant but often contrived and forced. i've seen nothing eye-opening, mysterious, or emotionally stirring from his lens.

to me the outdoor/studio image juxtaposition, looks like an afterthought, rather than an well-thought out concept which actually illustrates why these disparate images are relevant to each other and interconnected.

Jamie did actually shoot the still images as well, but whether it was done specifically with the campaign in mind I don't know. I read in an interview where he said a lot of thought went into contrasting the two.

Usually with diptychs I tend to first look at the one image exclusively, take it in, then the other, and eventually combining the two. So I think because of that the effect to me will differ from someone who looks at both images at the same time. I know that sort of defeats the purpose, but that's how I do it.
I really love this campaign. The vacant and quietude nuances of both still and studio images kept me glazing. There are some interconnection between some of the images, especially between the bare island tree, and Natalie's somewhat hunched pose and of course the palettes. I also think the casting of Natalie was perfect. The smaller details of her shots intrigue me, such as her hand in the first shot and foot in another.

Terrible. She looks so dead and bored.
I wouldn't care about this if i were looking through the magazine.

I wonder why she has that unnatural face. Poor thing she's a mess.

Thanks for posting Ed. Love it!! You dont have the still image which corresponds with this one?

I love it so much. I just wished Natalie would be a little more expressive, but besides this it's so good
