I'm really interested in mod fashion and its roots. I'd love to know more about the history of the mod fashion movement in europe, and the political, economic and social issues that influenced it.
I hope you can help me! I'm very excited to find out more about the subject! Please post any information, pictures, websites or book titles here!

try http://www.modculture.co.uk/ and a cool site http://www.fishtailparkas.com about mods and their parkas which are getting "objects of desire" for the sprawling japanese mod scene

is mod hot in Japan? hmm interesting

the 60s are my favorite era, i love the french new wave look, the chic mod look, and the pinup sex kitten look, not fond of the psychedelic day glow or geometric looks though, i like more of a classic minimalist meets urban romantic feel, i adored that balenciaga season with all the luxe winter white, i always admire chanel's mod looks too, this is definitely my biggest fashion influence because even when i take from other decades/styles i always style it with a simple mod aesthetic in mind

my favorite resources for this look are movies ( in the mood for love, quadrephenia, breakfast at tiffany's, any jean luc godard movie, alfred hitchcock thrillers ) and of course music ( too much to list really but love some of the early classic rock band looks and the motown girl groups )

i hate when the style looks costumey, its easy to make the look contemporary, but sometimes people make it too literal or they go for the psychedelic austin powers vibe

 i completely agree...i dont really see the austin powers costuming as the pure mod i love...i see mod as pure, clean, minimalistic, at times whimsically futuristic (the space-travel inspired fashions such as courreges,) obviously modern.

Beautiful outfit

I agree with your definition too.

I like the mod-look when it's fresh.

Yeah the whole phsycadellic thing I hate, but true mod is my obsession! :D
I love the clean lines, and the confidence these clothes give people.

My first university assignment this year is to create a mood boards for sixties style, focussing largely on fashion, but including music, film, art and such other cultural elements of the era.

www.sixtiescity.com is my favourite source, its wonderful reminiscing of a time when clothing was truly innovative and personal style was fun, creative and fearless.

I'm inspired

The assignment sounds fun!

I'm wanting to bump this thread because Mod is a look I'm currently turning to. Just wanting to know if there is anyone else out there who has any good ideas of what to buy/look out for that is in the shops now or how to slightly update the look. Quadrophenia has become my bible!!

love this boot style from prada. reminds me of my high school daze and coming home to watch the monkees at 4:30
