Model Casting S/S 13

The cast at Zac Posen was f*cking perfect. One of the most perfect casts for years (since 2009).

^ agreed. some of the "smaller" names in that show were really questionable. With names like KK and Angela Lindvall in the show, I don't know why Coco was the one who closed. There's a pecking order that's not being followed.

Coco closing the show makes perfect sense if you follow the pecking order of Zac's personal fave's.

I found the casting at Zac Posen to be ostentatious, though I do commend him for embracing models of colour.

Yeah, I was gonna say, those two seem to be close on a truly personal level. But also, I don't think all models really care that much about opening/closing. I know Snejana has said that she doesn't because the pay is the same either way.

Anyway, any hints/gossip about MJ? We've not heard any rumors about it up to this point, so I wonder if it's going to be a subdued cast?

Ofcourse models care about openings/closings. Maybe not someone on Lara's/Natasha's level, but for newer girls it can mean a lot.

Agreed!

To be honest, Zac Posen is no longer a hot/must be in/top tier show for a model to walk in and in my opinion, his casting reflects that. Legendary models? Of course, but also girls with whom he has built friendships (Hilary, Coco, etc) and are likely walking for him as a personal favor.

Most of the time, his show looks like it's stuck in the early 200's (design and casting wise). People need to move on from these models and embrace new girls. I am for a sprinkling of veterans and comebacks (a la Alexander Wang F/W 2012), but a show full of girls who were hot 8 years ago? No thanks! :flower:

^I pretty much agree with you 100%. Zac Posen can try to regain traction all he wants with stunt castings, but people have just moved on. And while I will NEVER not want casts full of mid-00s models (Snejana please, lol), his casts always feel so tired to me. No matter whom he casts, it just doesn't excite me.

I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Of course it's a big deal, especially for newer models. I was talking about models like KK, Angela L, Isabelli, etc, who were at Posen and didn't get to close/open. For them, I don't think it's that big a deal.

Totally agree with you. In my opinion one of the worst castings ever...

ALOT of new girls at Marc Jacobs..... more than usual it felt

I actually thought the casting was really small, seeing as Marc generally does 50+ looks...

The whole cast may have been 'small' but there were hardly any established models there which made for a very newbie-heavy cast.

I feel like that's what he's leaning towards with his recent shows. Sort of like how Prada can make or break a model's career back when Prada still meant something, I think he's trying to become that kind of show for models.

Now what about the Pierre Balmain show? Major Asian presence.

It's a pre-recorded show presented in Beijing last May. Excerpt from fashionologie:

The collection, which was shown in Beijing in May and presented Monday morning as a digital fashion show, featured men's and women's looks.

I tend to really dislike Marc Jacobs's casts... simply because I don't know 70% of the faces!

I thought the Marc Jacobs casting was great. I was a bit confused when girls like Marie Piovesan and Jamie Bochert turned up since they didn't fit in with the youthful spirit of the show and the rest of the cast, but I guess he included them because they're his personal faves.
Ruby Jean was absolutely perfect opening and closing the show, she really set the mood and fitted the theme of the show so well. I didn't think there were too many new faces, I recognized much more girls in the MJ show than in many of the other ones I've seen so far.

Along with Honor and Tess Giberson the MJ casting is probably my favorite so far.

Totally agree pslocke , ruby jean was fantastic inspired choice, loved the casting none of the more insipid newbies were there , loved seeing him stay loyal to old favourites too:)

Yes, I think Ruby Jean was a brilliant choice for Marc. She really fitted the mood of the collection.
And I absolutely loved Theyskens' casting. I don't endorse a sea of newbies, but I can't be mad at him because he chose all my favorite ones. You cant go wrong with a brunette Lauren Bigelow opening, Irina Nikolaeva, Magdalena Jasek, Marcele dal Cortivo, etc.

so far I'm a bit disappointed by it all...yeah there are some interesting faces but they all are bland and lifeless:huh:....I keep my hopes up for prada.
