^^I think alpargatas (name in english: espadrille)are originaly from Spain. but I think those shoes are not alpargatas, look at the sole... it´s not made of raffia, it´s rubber

i don't know about espadrilles, but there are some alpargatas without raffia in the sole (of course they're not the classic ones) but alpargatas were a type of shoes made for workers or something and named after the enterprise that made them
