Movie Challenge 2013

Can we make the minimum require of challenge to 50 instead? It's very inconvenient for me to watch 100 movies as I don't watch movies on Internet...I have to buy DVDs instead. :flower:

I'll keep the goal at 100 again, I didn't reach it for 2012 but knowing the goal was far was probably the main reason I bothered to take my time and dig up some films I really wanted to see. If I choose 50, I'll probably end the year stuck at 37.

A few of sub-challenges for me, through colors as a reminder:
- Visconti's filmography. (or any other director, although Visconti's feels like an overdue).
- At least 15 documentaries.
- Explore South American (mostly Uruguayan, Brazilian and Argentinian) cinema.

If you haven't seen "Esperando la Carroza", you should  It's Argentina served on a plate.
And another that I rememberd to like is "100 veces no debo" (generally I hate argentinian movies.) I will try "El verso" which is supposed to be fair.

There's no minimum, you're the one who gets to decide your own goal. :P

Ah, many thanks for that .. my main problem is that I never know where to start or what to start with, I often end up watching too much contemporary stuff or classics in a context that's hard to make sense of. I hadn't thought of Argentinian comedy, or films during the Alfonsín years, which makes it extra intriguing, just for the mood of the country/arts in that decade.. still kind of obscure for me.

Might also try to finally take my time with Raymundo Gleyzer's documentaries.

Let's start, shall we?
I'm ill so all I've been doing these two days (and nights) was watching movies.

1. The Princess Diaries (2001)
2. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)
3. Wild Child (2008)
4. Princess Protection Program (TV 2009)
5. The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! (1976)
6. The Irony of Fate 2 (2007)

Some of my Chrismas must watches. I just didn't have time to watch them on actual Christmas.

1) The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
2) Struck by lightning (2012)
3) Blade Runner (1982)

I would love to include more documentaries, I feel like that is one genre I lack. So I'm also going to challenge myself to include at least 10 documentaries.

My list:
1. Pitch Perfect (2012)
2. The Watch (2012)
3. Premium Rush (2012)

I'm in. I only managed to watch 107 films last year, but my goal was 100 so I suppose that's ok. Anyways, starting off 2013:

1. Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011)
2. Chronicle (2012)

1.The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
2.An Education (2009)
3.The Raven (2012)

It all depends on if i watch series or not, but i'll try to aim for the 100 movies.

1.The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King(2003)
2.Batman Returns(1992)
3. Iron Man 2(2010)

1. The Moonrise Kingdom (2012) | Great cast, cute movie.
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) | Rewatched

I wouldn't asociate them with art, but esperando la carroza is THE argentinian classic. It's such a classic, that almost everybody knows it by heart or at least a couple of quotes. Some quotes even became local expressions. So, start with that one!!!

hehehe yeah, I know the whole movie by heart... quote after quote :D
the beauty of it is that even though is a movie from the 80s is so current, specially depecting the typical middle class. Also "100 veces no debo", talking about dollars as we do today right? :P
both are comedies that don t dwell on the regime so you can watch them with ease... now I feel like watching la carroza again, gonna search for my copy (a staple in every home)

I'm in. Will be happy if I watch 100, but hoping for between 230-250 this year. (I hit 230 last year, so I kinda want the number to be above or the same.)

1. Dial 'M' for murder.
2. Arsenic and Old Lace.
3. The Italian Job (1969)
4. Judge Dredd (1995)
