Nail Polish

By the way:
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their black nailpolish suggestions. I actually found some at last today. In a Goth store, of all places...
The brand is called " mehron." Not sure of its quality, but I'm just happy to have finally gotten it.

I know this is way old, but Mehron is a theatrical cosmetic company. Top-of-the-line quality! NIce find!

I got MAC Whirlwind yesterday (I didn't wanna buy it 2 months ago when it came out with the thought that I already have enough polishes, just to lust over it when it wasn't available anymore  then my local MAC got an additional shipment I guess and I snatched the last bottle) the most amazing metallic dark teal, depending on the light it looks green, turquoise, blue or violet on a black base:heart:

I got OPTs "Can you Groove it?" this week- a very cool winey-purple color!

My current favourite is Colour Cosmetics No.355. So, so red! I love it.

Usually I only like Essie polish. I have a range of colors, I loove 'Very Cranberry' a perfect darker pinky/wine color that goes great w/my olive skin.

I also like Maybelline Foreverstrong and Loreal Resist and Shine. Drugstore polish, but lasts and lasts and great colors!!

I just bought my first OPI - Got The Blues For Red, and I'm crazy about it :woot: The wide brush is really great...

Do you guys recommend using OPI base and top coats with it? At the moment I'm using Essie and I'm not that happy with it  When I was very active, and washing my hands a lot, my polish chipped within a day. Essie also messed up my Armani polish - but that could be the Armani, it's not that great for me...so what do you think? ^_^

Ohh I was thinking of buying that colour!! I love the Chicago collection, as much as the city itself :)
I don't recommend the STart to Finish OPI top and base coat. they're really crap and the bottle kept sealing itself shut, i had to soak it in super hot water before opening it. When i got back form the US last week, it cracked and it leaked all over my make up case..i think it's a blessing in disguise as it was so crap now I have to buy a new one :)

^ that happened to me once too (another brand...). the bottle fused to a few other items in my manicure kit.

has anyone here used OPI's Drip Dry? the reviews seem mixed as far as its effectiveness. i'd just like my nails to dry more quickly! :innocent:

Right now I have:

- ''Ballet on Ice'' on my Toes ( by Maybelline )
- "Candy Red Apple" on my fingers ( by NYC )

I'm using a white color by OPI called 'Who Named These Colors Anyway?' on my fingernails.

replying to myself. Drip Dry works quite well! it dries polish... not to the point that i would go scraping my nails on anything or doing the dishes, but well enough so as not to smudge them. i do my nails, then (a minute later) put 2 drops of Drip Dry over my nails, and go to bed shortly after. when i wake up, they're completely dry. plus it's nice and moisturizing for the cuticles and fingertips. i like it a lot!

hi guys! does anyone know a good matte black nailpolish?

I just ordered my first OPI nailpolish in "I'll Take The Cake" :D I hope it'll be as good as I heard it is.

Q: when i get a really good base and top coat, wouldn't the brand/quality of the actual color layer be unimportant/less important? like, the Dior Top Coat i used makes my nails so shiny and smooth, would it be less so with a different black nailpolish (i used Chanel's Black Satin & Cosmique)?

in short: Good Base + Top Coat + Cheap Nailpolish = Good idea?

Ok, I pretty much have made the decision to get rid of all my polishes that have dibutyl phthalate. I was just in CVS and saw Borghese polish and instead of db they had trimellitic anhydride, which reading the descriptions of it and its effects from NIH was not exactly comforting and its probably worse than db. Anyway, does anyone know if NARS and MAC contain the 'big 3' or are they clean? And if anyone has any opinions on Zoya or Priti I'm all ears, as I need to restock.

Just saw the above OPI are big 3 free, finally. Any plans on for them to convert all colors to being free of them? Just wish Essie would do the same...

^ according to alllacqueredup.com (this site has pretty much everything you'd want to know about nail polish:lol:), these brands are 'big 3-free':

Avon, Butter London, Dashing Diva "Extra Virgin", HoneyBee Gardens, Lippmann Collection (newer collections), NailTini, NARS (new formula), Nocti, Nubar, OPI (Australia collection & newer), Revlon, Sally Hansen, Vinyl Deborah Lippmann, Zoya

here's their page devoted to it. i'm still not sure about MAC polishes.

:flower:

^Thanks! I couldn't remember the site. Yay Revlon! Wish I could give you karma, but apparently I need to spread it around, (sounds dirty), lol.

Just curious, but does anyone know when Europe got rid of phthlates in products? I have some nail polish from there from last year and am trying to figure out what's in it.

Manhattan 70
Artdeco Wonder Brush 010

I would like to try OPI (we finally got them:bounce:), but right now I'm waiting for Chanel's Blue Satin. I also like Bourjois So Laque (especially Fuchsia provoc') and 1 Seconde.
