you're really wrong, I have to say Kate Moss is a fashion Icon but Naomi is a worldwide pop Icon, every person in the world knows who's Naomi Campbell, hardly Kate Moss is remembered in America.

When Kate Moss started modelling Naomi had already done music videos with Michael Jackson, Madonna and George Michael, you can see her in Mtv Awards, a-list celebrity tv-shows like "revealed" in E! Entertainment, interviews with Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters etc, etc.

Naomi is a legend, a real diva. Kate Moss is .... just a fashion Icon.

i totally disagree about kate. kate had been interviewed a gazillion times by magazines like the face, vogue, and i-d, before she stopped giving interviews. because people were interested in her personality. of course naomi is one of the most beautiful models ever, but no one is interested in her personality. kate was in videos for johnny cash, elton john, primal scream, marianne faithfull, the white stripes. i don't see how these are any worse than naomi's. when you see naomi on tv giving interviews to diane and barbara, it's about her coke addiction, not about her causes or anything remotely virtuous.

Alot of the press Kate was giving in the first couple of years was about her "weird looks". Which is like saying what you were about Naomi and her talking about her addictions. After people got over Kate's looks they weren't so interested in her anymore. I've heard and read interviews with Kate and she isn't very interesting. Not to trash Kate, but she isn't that great. And I'm not being spiteful or jealous. Naomi, Linda, Christy & Cindy were the models who everyone cared about what they had to say. They especially Naomi had the personalities that carried the business. After Kate & the waif likes came the media and interest went away(after they were treated as scapegoats for what was wrong with the youth of today, no one cared they just vanished because many don't have the presence). I'm sorry but history shows it, not Kate.
Naomi has been in vidoes which the likes of: George Micheal's "Freedom"(regarded one of the greatest music video's), Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jay-Z, etc.
Not to mention books, popular shows mentioned above, movies with people like Spike Lee, Fashion Cafe, etc.

I don't want to turn this thread into a Kate thread(she has enough at the Fashion Spot). They are pals but different models, personally I like many who get into the topmodels and do their research remember & prefer Naomi's work, looks and personality(hate it or love it). If you don't than I'm sure they are on equal footing with the others. Other exceptions are fine too, but this is Naomi's thread. But when writers and researchers talk about supermodels or runway or blackmodels she is the one you talk about first, than maybe kate if she is even mentioned.

She has worked longer than Kate. The only thing that I think is the most interesting similarity is Naomi ushered in black model popularity like non other. Kate did that for the waifs.

There are so many with praise but these are some that stand out.

It' s not fair to compare any model to Naomi and it' s a disgrace to compare her to Kate Moss. I mean who knew about Kate Moss until she started dating Johnny Depp??.

I have a huge amout of respect for Naomi. She has broken racial barriers and has made a name for herself. Just look at her outstanding career. She was the muse of so many designers. She would put alot of today' s models to shame i'll tell ya that.
