there is a great article in the September issue of National Geographic on Shoes. It is called "Every Shoes tells a Story" by Cathy Newman. She interviews Manolo Blahnik, Natacha Marro, a fetish footwear designer and Bespoke men's designer, Olga Berluti. It has beautiful pictures, one of my favorites is Vivienne Westwood's infamous "staggerer" croc mock 12" platform. The article goes deeper into the history of the shoe as well as it's significance in a range of cultures. It also delves into the shoes importance in space-walking and historical findings of the first shoes. It is a really great read.
