People like that Trace Reef are totally white in skin colour and it's quite hard to believe that he is part Native. Surely he must have something to accentuate Native features, like a darker skin tone. Apparently Cameron Diaz is part Native too...

From what I've been told by a Native American friend out west and seen around here with the Leni Lenape, the coloring is the first trait to go and often is lost in one generation. A full blooded, dark skinned Native American can marry a white skinned Caucasian, and they can have a pale, blue eyed, blonde child. It's interesting to see families where one of the children looks "typically" Native in their hair/eyes/skin, and you could swear their siblings are pure Irish or Russian, yet their features are undeniably related. It's the bone structure and facial features that stick around.

I'm about 1/4 Cherokee with some other tribes too and you could probably never be able to tell by looking at me but it totally shows in my Mom. I don't know if the traditional Indian traits are recessive or something, but they seem to fade easily when mixed.

Native Americans migrated from Asia. Around Mongolia and Uzbekistan.

At least that's what I'm learning in class, and from NOVA and my mom (an ethnologist). It's a theory. Mormons will say different.

Also, there has happened to be this very Native American looking boy modeling in the recent Urban Outfitters catalogs. I don't know if he has done any other work, but he had obvious Native American traits.

My mother, Cathee Dahmen, modeled mostly in the 60's and 70's. She is part German and a little French, even further back part Scot, but she is half American Indian Chippewa. More specifically she was an enrolled tribe member of the Grand Portage Band of Chippewa, in Minnesota.
She grew up on the Grand Portage Reservation and when she began modeling, she lived in London then NYC. Her mother's maiden name is Morrison, and we can trace our family back to when the French settlers came to Minnesota.
My sisters and I are also enrolled tribe members, it's cool to see this thread!
