Net-a-Porter really bugs me too... You're lucky if you live Stateside you get a good choice of online sites - Neimans, Saks,..., - we get NAP & Browns! Poor or rather limited choices and high prices, expensive shipping and general weirdness - especially if you want to buy in Euros.

Don't hold your breathe for the Euro/UK sales either. My bets are for the 10th of January when the Paris sales start:(. These guys don't know the meaning of competition compared to the States.

grill,
tell me about it! if only they had a website like Neimans in Europe...
problem is that NAP Europe counts for whole of europe whereas each and every country has different SALES dates and therefore their system doesnt make sense. so as you said, its either you live Stateside and you are fine or you are "rest of the world" and you suffer from poor and overpriced e-commerce sites that charge you and arm and a leg for shipping...
i am a big fan of NAP but i cannot stand people taking advantage of the situation. THEY ARE!
ok ok sorry everyone but i need to vent about NAP every now and then even though i still buy from them :hardhead:

yeah, some of the sales started in Germany, 6-7 Jan they'll be in Italy and almost everywhere... Nap selection is not interesting anymore

I agree that in general the competition in Europe is lagging WAY behind comapred to US online shopping but believe me the pricing in Euro's and pounds is often way better than in the US because of the dollar and import fees and such. You'll see the same thing on the US site sometimes $100+ what it is on the UK/EU site so.....

^ I still maintain that US shoppers have a superior range and selection of designerwear available online - I forgot eluxury, Shopbop! - than us Europeans. Also when it comes to pricing, you mustn't forget that we pay through the nose over here for us designers such as Proenza and Marc Jacobs, etc... Also if we choose to shop outside the EU we face import taxes and charges which add 30 percent onto the initail item price and the shipping.

To improve I think NAP, Matches and Browns need some real competition from other eurobased etailers. Maria Luisa is good but its in terms of size can't compare to the US giants.

It would be a definite improvement for European customers if NAP started stocking Manolo Blahnik. I adore his designs and we kind of miss him over here.

Has anyone from the EU used a web proxy, to try and shop from the US sites? No clue if it would work on those sites, but it sometimes works for other sites that vary depending on country.

i do it sometimes and order from the us site, but i ship it to my us address- because if you buy from us and ship it to europe the shipping costs are crazy

yeah I agree marc and proenza are then more expensive here but like Uniq, as I have shipping addresses in both the uk and Canada and the ability to hop across the border to purchase in person I just shop where it's the cheapest.

I just found a NAP free shipping code: FREESHIP4EN4

I just tried it and it works!:buzz: :buzz: :buzz: Sorry but I have no idea when it expires!

Happy shopping everyone! :flower:

Oh the coat I want is on sale at the usa site
what to do - I want it soo much.
nap

does anyone else not like that nap uses DHL?
apparently they tried to deliver something twice already to my house (at a time when nobody is home) and they are VERY unacommodating..
basically telling me if no one is home tomorrow that i have to drive 45 minutes to pick up the package myself..

after paying so much for shipping i think that's bull****

and i only got a notice for today's attempt...
so this is the first i am hearing of it :ermm:

the woman on the phone was very rude as well..
not helpful at all...

^at least they call you and try to arrange a time, in Australia, they try once, and if you're not home they just leave a note for you to go to your nearest Post office and pick up the parcel from there..which is a total b itch because they close at 5pm and not many are open on weekends. So yeah, it's a total waste to pay that much for shipping and not have it delivered to your door.
maybe use your work address if you can? :)

i might just do that next time...
i haven't had any problems the previous times i ordered from nap but getting the package delivered at work might end up being the most hassle-free option in the end..

DHL are evil

They've left me "undeliverable" notices when I was at home...clearly ringing my bell was just too much effort...

Fortunately everytime I've ordered from NAP I've sent it to my work address (to avoid above problems) and since it was central London I got the special NAP delivery. But my boyfriend ordered it to our home address once and it was a HUGE hassle to get it all sorted so i hear that. I think their shipping prices are exorbitant to begin with though....

^^i agree.. i do too meg...
certainly at least twice as much as other sites i order from..

and then the DHL woman has the nerve to tell me I would have to drive (the location is 45 min to an hour away from my house) to pick it up! that's absurd after paying so much for shipping!
the woman was completely unhelpful on the phone.. telling me 9:30-10 was too early and 3 PM was too late to expect anyone..
when the hell am i supposed to be at work?!
she was completely unsympathetic and wouldn't try to work with me at all..

i remember the same thing happening to my friend in college hebden.. when she called DHL to complain they told her the drivers didn't have phones and couldn't have called her :ermm:
ridiculous..

i can appreciate that the package arrived here quickly considering when i ordered the things but i would rather wait an extra week than deal with stupid DHL..
no one in my family found any notice that they had tried delivering at any time other than today... ugh

sorry for all my ranting :p

DHL really IS the worst....

but chrissy...
won't they even let you redirect the package to your work address...
i have to do that sometimes when samples are delayed for shoots and some of the shipping companies are pretty good about it...

of course DHL may not be since they suck...:ninja:...
everything always gets stuck in customs or arrives late...
:judge:
