hi guys, this is a weird question but i hope someone can help me a little.

I am an artist but not a makeup artist. I need to help my friend out for one of his student films and we need to make someone's face look kind of like the joker. the face is mostly white, green hair, yellow teeth with red lips but we don't want him looking like a clown or too cheesy either.

Can someone guide me with a few steps as to where can we get the make up and brushes locally. Any quick recommendations? do we need to add a few different tinted colored layers of foundation or can we just use a plain white. how can we color the teeth?

we wish we had the time and finances to get a professional make up artist on the set :( maybe soon down the line.

^ Try looking into theater makeup like Kryolan or Ben Nye. THey have some good white foundation.

This is the basic joker face from Batman...is this along the lines of what youre doing or more menancing or more theatrical?

yes that's pretty much it. probably more menacing, but the basic look will do with appropriate lighting on the set. Can we get any of this make up locally (new jersey)? or do we have to order it online? we need to finish most scenes by spring break

can we apply that with something similar to an average paint brush?
is there like a liner red lipstick for the red lines that stretch to the cheeks?
what about the green hair and yellow teeth?

:glare:

Apply it with a sponge, you get more perfect results and then do the details using a really soft paintbrush.
Apply the white face paint using soft movements and pressing the sponge against the skin instead of sragging it aroun (that will eventually take off the paint you are applying), Then fix it all using white powder or some talc powder (which is ok, because the paint is white).

Don´t forget to line the eyes with some black eye pencil and the eyebrows.

I don´t know where Kryolan is sold in the Us (good suggestion though ;)), but go to some local shops that sell costumes because white paint is not that hard to find, but go for more cakey formulas than the liquid ones, as the liquid ones are less opaque.

any comments about the teeth?

can i get away with face paint for kids? I can't find theatrical paint anywhere locally.:(

You can, but try it on first just dab a bit on your hand and see if it´s any good. :)

About the teeth, either you get false teeth or some pro thing to put on top of the person´s teeth.

sillyfarm.com has really resonable prices and cheap shipping. I'd recommend kryolan aquacolors... you can get the "refill" colors and they're only $3 each. There is definitely enough in each refill to fill an entire face (talking about the white, of course).

I am really getting p!ssed at the Us prices... :p
So many cheap stuff available there!!! Although Kryolan is made in Germany (...i think) i´m sure there isn´t an european based site that sells kryolan for that price...
