Nicole Miller F/W 08.09 New York

I like it, it´s a very wearable collection. Like the mix of colors. The cocktail dresses are nice.

Wow. I wasn't exspectign this from her, dunno why. I love it!

I really like some of the outfits and I really like the inspiration behind some of the others (again, very early '80s); I just think some of the execution is a bit off.

But, that is fairly inevitable when one tries something that is new to one.

That's why older designers (i.e. old enough to have done it all before [as long as they keep their edge]) have an advantage and why fashion generally works best when it is not too fast, so that designers have a couple of seasons to fine-tune their ideas and work out which fabrics work best for the looks they are trying to achieve. :)

The first crop of a 'new' design are often pretty iffily made, with questionable fabric choices, IMO.

its just proof of how good a model tanya d is, since she was able to make that yellow sweater thing look desirable.

there are a few pieces a i like. but overall this wasn't a good collection. and the knitwear was horrific.

Hmmm.....I take this comment back, in Nicole's case, as, apparently she started producing her own designs in 1982, so she should have done most of this sort of thing before...

Maybe, in this case, it's the ateliers that need to familiarise themselves?

I like that this is different for her. And that this whole collection is completely wearable in real life.

I don't feel it. I like some of the looks but really watching the collection was like it's a bit Sonia Rykiel, a bit Anna Sui, a bit Mouret and so on...

Some of the individual pieces are great and the hair and makeup are ace, but there's something off. It seems uninspired.
I agree completely! There are a few individual things that I really love, but the rest is not so good, in my oppinion

I like it, but I also liked H&M's last fall collection, and this kindof reminds me of that. So basically dittoing the 'nice but uninspired'.

I really like this stuff. I like that she took risks at the way the dresses are constructed to form different shapes. At the same time, form what I rememeber from her, I still don't see a "Nicole Miller" aesthetic.

i looked through the whole collection and it is not bad at all!!

I quite like this, it looks a bit DKNY. Chic and pratical, perfect for New Yorkers.

I love this collection! There's some awesome dresses.
