THE fairytale rise of WA beauty Nicole Trunfio continues to bloom.
Just five years ago Trunfio, 21, was at school, working part time as a checkout chick in Australind, near Bunbury, with no real dreams of stardom.
But a chance encounter with Christine Fox, of Vivien's Model Management, during a shopping trip to Perth changed her life.
She was picked up by the agency and is now based in New York, and graces the catwalks of Milan and London representing international designers including Chanel, Versace, Valentino, Gucci, Fendi, Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana.
Yesterday, she was in Sydney for the David Jones Summer 2007 Collections Launch.
"To me it was something that just happened,'' Trunfio said of her modelling career. ``I never really tried (to do modelling). Fate just took me there and I do pinch myself from time to time.
"I was in Berlin the other day. I have experienced so many things and have had so many doors of opportunity open. I am so grateful and making the most of every moment and living every day.
"If I was still living home I'd be married with tonnes of kids, and that's a side of things I miss. But I'll come home (to live) one day.''
Trunfio said she and WA supermodel Gemma Ward lived close to each other and they ``hung out'' whenever they could, sometimes listening to and playing music in Central Park.
But despite the dizzy heights of stardom, her thoughts are never far from home, Trunfio said.
Trunfio is part of what is being dubbed the Fantastic Four.
The David Jones chain has brought Catherine McNeil, Kristy Hinze, Cheyenne Tozzi and Trunfio, to Sydney to take on Myer's ever-popular Jennifer Hawkins.
The foursome will join Megan Gale on the catwalk on Tuesday for the launch of DJ's summer collection.
Myer will unveil its spring/summer collection on Wednesday night.
