Gemma has done a few topless photos, from way early in her career (she does have boobs! not as flat as everyone says ). Anyway, they used to be in her portfolio on the Vivien's website, but have been changed out a long time ago. I never saved them. Did anyone else happen to? They were quite lovely.

Really? Thats strange.. I guess I just assumed.. can someone tell me how they get past childporn laws.. I mean I know the photographer was doing it in the name of fashion or whatever and the people that look at this aren't the same people who buy penthouse or anything.. but.. I don't know.. I guess I'm just confused

The pictures were not p*rn*gr*ph*c at all. There was nothing sexual in them whatsoever. I think if a girl (of reasonable age - at least mid-teens) is comfortable showing her body in a tasteful way - and her parents allow it - there is nothing wrong or crude about it. PS! I think they are trying to teach the girl that you have to be somewhat comfortable with nudity in the modeling word. Like in the backstage they all have to change in the same place even though the make-up artist, and other people are in there with them.

I don't think any of the girls minded showing their bodies to female backstage assistants and such, it is very different when you're actually flaunting yourself and being on display in front of a crew of 20+ people, and the photographers are usually male too. I don't think i'd be comfortable getting my kit off and having it saved on film forever. Then again if you're a model you most likely think you're hot anyway and don't mind displaying your 'assets'

That is weird of Gisele saying she'd never do nudity. Maybe she meant she'd never do explict nudity, sexually charged nudity etc.

I think when It's done well, it can be beautiful, but too often it's made vulgar. There is a big bifference between claay and trashy, even in nudity.

And yeah... i've seen Daria's topless pics from Vogue Italia. She looks alright! Not cheap and sl*tty. gosh... i hate those cheap & sl*tty shots. it's so degrading for women!

But if a model refuses to show any private parts at all on catwalk and photo shoots(except bikini shots), are they given fewer contracts with big designers than those who do?

yes thats right.
nudity (topless only ) is the job. the job as a model is to present, not to hide herself and earn much money and marring popstars... a model ho has an other opinion about that shouldnt do this job. i noticd (as aphotographer ) most of the models do not have the problem, but the ones with not so beautiful breasts do...
besides, some even do enjoy it, like rianne...

Yeah they do look fake in that one (and a few others). In other pics they look more real. So are they real? The world may never know...

I agree. When Gisele said she wouldn't do nudity, I am sure she meant no nipples or full on nudity like being shirtless on a runway. Name me one vert successful model who has never taken a sexually charged photo or posed as scantily clad as Gisele did in all those pictures? Right..

I think the suggestion is still there, regardless of how scantily clad the model is or not. Actually, I think Cindy Crawford's Playboy pictures that she did with Herb Ritts are much better pictures, than say that picture of Gisele for the Face magzine. Gisele look greasy in the picture and I don't think her face looks that great. I think a lot of it comes down to whether or not it's a nice picture. I've also seen a few pcitures of Julie Ordon naked from teh backside that are much nicer and less sexually suggestive than the one of Gisele holding the condom. Just depends on the picture.

Lily Cole's done a vague form of toplessness, although the pic I saw was very tasteful and artistic. Her face was so lovely you weren't even looking at her chest, and if you did, you didn't feel like a pervert. Other than that, those Gisele photos made me feel really sleazy and uncomfortable. She looked like a cheap p*rn star in the shoot for The Face. I really don't like some of those explicit shots (and she looks like she's had implants).

Those photos of Gemma are not sexually suggestive in the least. I'd call them classy. She seems so delicate- like she's made of porcelin. Even Cindy Crawford's playboys shoot seems classier than a lot of what Gisele does- cloathed or not. Cindy's pics had a sophisticated sexuality. It's all about the style and suggestion.
