Is it me or does Hilary look squashed?

What is Nylon's obsession with "The Mixtape"

SHINE ON

Hilary Duff grows up, and onto our latest cover!

One of those rare celebrities whose fame is defined by her successes rather than her mistakes, Hilary Duff conducts herself with the kind of confidence that befits someone who has been working in the entertainment industry for 12 of her 22 years with barely a misstep. Fresh from a guest role (and a threesome) on Gossip Girl, the Texas native is now our NYLON cover girl!

Her clothing line, Femme for DKNY Jeans:
“I got to bring in textures that I loved and tell them about the shapes that I like. I designed clothing that I feel are staples for my closet. I think that’s really helpful to girls who need to know they can mix high-end with low-end, and you don’t have to buy a complete outfit the way it’s shown in the store. Every girl needs a great leather jacket, and every girl needs a skinny pair of black jeans.”

On her close bond with her mother:
“My mom is rad. I feel I’m so much like her. I don’t know if it’s wrong to drop an F-bomb in he same sentence as your mother, but I’m so ****ing lucky to have my mom. She’s just taught me so much and given me so much, and she has such an open heart.”

The experience of fame:
“I walked into a mall one day and was mobbed by people. And I just remember feeling really different than everyone else. I felt really loved. But it was weird at the same time. I don’t necessarily like to walk into a place and be recognized.”

Taking the part of starlet Olivia Burke on Gossip Girl:
“I was a little hesitant. It was kind of close to home… then I realized, I would never say something [that Olivia says] like, ‘Oh, this is just for the cameras.’ I think that’s what makes me so different from some of the other people my age. It seemed for a time there were people who hated each other – and I knew they hated each other – but they were in pictures together all the time, smiling and throwing their arms around each other. I was like, “You’re in the same business I am – how can you do that and feel okay? I so wouldn’t do that.”

I am officially taking back any previous appreciation of Nylon. Blake Lively, Sienna Miller, Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan... and now Hilary? No thank you. I'm so tired of these irrelevant celebrity personas always being covered by the magazine. I guess I'm too old for Nylon's target readers - at 21 years old.

Hilary Duff is the only Disney star I actually like. Don't know why but I'm always rooting for her.

With that said, the cover sucks.

yep this is stupid and MGMT...this is not 2007, nylon.

NYLON you are killing me...
Hillary Duff?!??!??! GROSS

I think she looks good, a she is a very pick for a cover. Im tired of the people who thinks that if youre very famous you cant appear on Nylon... its just another magazine and looking the economy, you cant put an "oh-im-so-indie" star on the cover. They need to hugh a massive crow!

could have been worse, could have been better...

eh. Nylon is pretty irrelevant these days. Though I remember once they were a great mag. Oh wel...

I think American mags ran out of decent celebrities to put on their covers so they cast a has been or someone who hasn't been on the spotlight just for the hell of it. It's sad.

Nylon was a great mag when it was strictly online, or when they first started printing on newstands. Then they got money and started paying b-list and c-list celebrities in their covers.

 I don't even understand the point of Nylon anymore.

I'd take Hilary on the cover over Blake/Megan/Kristen any day of the week, and seriously, it's not like she's on covers left right and centre is it.. She's not turned up on many in ages.

That's why it's off putting because of the fact that she hasn't been on the spotlight in ages. And it's not like they choose a cover girl a month before the actual issue, they choose a cover girl a few months ahead, so putting her on the cover doesn't really make any sense when they've been putting girls like Blake and Kristen who have been making headlines.

But they'll have known for months she was going to be in Gossip Girl...? I've known she's going to be in for months, so I'm more than sure they knew she'd be back in the 'spotlight' now.
