Hi, does any of you know how Olivia managed to go to all this show for fashion week? Does she pay for her plane ticket and hotel room, if not who does? What is her real job? Basically I am interested in knowing where she makes her money from. I know she used to be in the City, and she did model for Freida and Mango, but was just curious because she's hanging out with heiresses and she goes to all this places! Who finance the whole fashion week for her as it get quite expensive between hotel rooms, cabs fare, foods etc.
I hope I'm not offending anyone with this money question, I am just very curious and a bit cheeky I guess! Many thanks x
Her family used to be wealthy but her dad filed for bankruptcy and lost in 2007. I don't know their current financial situation. Her mom is an interior designer.
According to some media reports, she gets $12,000 per episode of the City. That's ~$275k for season 1 alone. Her father probably also set her up with a trust fund at some point; depending on its size, she could live off the interest. And she probably does get paid for her work at Elle (though it's probably not a lot).
As for clothes, she doesn't always buy everything she wears. As someone recognized for style, she likely gets free clothes. She also gets lent things (I remember a caption for a photo said "Olivia is wearing..." and she's only worn that once so I think it was borrowed because she is known for re-using pieces). She probably has connections through Elle to borrow certain pieces. And she mentioned in an article she has a lot vintage that has been passed down from her mother and (now deceased) grandmother.
And she also has other ventures besides the City, like her jewelry collaboration with Roberta Freymann, modelling for Mango, etc. I think she had some deal with Tibi at one point because she went to Japan for a Tibi event and did a Tibi-only photoshoot for Elle Japan.
I think only smaller designers pay for celebrities to attend their shows. I can't imagine Marc Jacobs or Chanel paying for celebrities to sit in the front row.

No problem, you posed a very interesting question! And welcome to TSF!
