Olivia Palermo

she would just need to learn how to speak to an audience without the fake smile and the weird thing she does with her mouth
and it would already be an improvment but I cant see that happening

It's interesting that Olivia has never covered a major magazine here in the U.S. and probably never will. She is just not that well-known here outside of fashion circles and lacks the talent and likeability factor to sell covers. Abroad it seems the standard for cover-worthy stars is lower.

So by default the US has the highest standards compared to everywhere else? I find that a bit dramatic and amusing considering people like Blake Lively are the ones covering the biggest magazines there. Unlike in the US, it's probably more likely that people don't care about The City or strangely believe that people in reality shows (and even tv shows) are the same people they depict on screen. Her fashion is what catches peoples attention so it makes sense that she gets spreads (she gets seems to get mostly mentions in magazines rather than actual covers) in fashion magazines.

Perhaps I used the wrong choice of wording. By lower standards I simply meant that the requirement of being a singer or the main star of a major hit TV show (reality or scripted) or movie (which Blake Lively is) doesn't seem to be necessary abroad. You cannot get the cover of a major U.S. magazine simply by being photographed at a lot of events dressed well. You usually have to be well-known by the American public for something besides your style and have some degree of likeability.

I had to stop watching that video out of second-hand embarrassment. Olivia's beauty is causing people to want more of her than what she is capable. They want her to be a great model and spokesperson but she isn't. Nothing about her is natural. Her mouth moves so awkwardly when she speaks and I found it distracting.

The bar is so low for her she doesn't need to be a great anything. She just needs to sound like she has a higher IQ than a potato and to be sincere once in a while.
She's like a Fabergé egg: meticulously adorned and made up, beautiful to look at, but utterly useless.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of that video? the one of her dancing? It is not an ad, its just a video?

The bodice of that dress makes her look preggers and the middle part in her hair doesn't flatter her face shape. This is one of the few times I don't like her hair. It looks so heavy on either side of her small face.
