Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

from: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/you/article-1022207/Who-fairest-all.html

Far from looking ghostly, pale skin can look stunning whether you’re fair, brunette or have red hair, ‘providing your skin is flawless – especially on the body,’ says Lee Pycroft. ‘The key is to keep a slight lustre to your skin and avoid anything too matt. So pale-skinned beauties should forget trying to emulate a J-Lo glow and follow Lee’s guide to making the most of your natural complexion.

Get the pale look
Make-up artist Lee Pycroft shows you how to enhance fair skin.

Foundation: skin should be flawless. Go for a light-reflective, non-matt base and apply only where needed. Try Rimmel Renew & Lift (?7.99, from boots.com); La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation (?98, from House of Fraser, tel: 0870 160 7270), or Dainty Doll Foundation (?12, from asos.com) for very pale skin.

Powder: apply a sheer face powder with a brush not a puff. This allows your natural oils to come through rather than creating a matt finish. Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel Poudre Cristalline (?29, available nationwide) is exquisite.

Blush: brunettes, go for a rosy blush along your cheekbones ¨¤ la Dita Von Teese — try Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pink Raspberry (?16, bobbibrown.co.uk). Blondes and redheads, choose a soft pale pink or apricot and blend a little taupe just under your cheekbones for definition. Dainty Doll Blush & Contour (?10) twins taupe with apricot (Blossom) or pink (Bloom).

Eyes: soft, smoky eyes — think Cate Blanchett — look great with pale skin. Use Makeup by Barbara Daly for Tesco Eyeshadow in Smoke (?3.75, tel: 0800 505555) and black mascara.

Lips: deep red lips complement pale-skinned brunettes. Dab red on to your lips with a finger for a more wearable stain. Try Mac lipstick in Mac Red (?11, maccosmetics.co.uk). Blondes and redheads only need a nude gloss, such as Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Buff or Beige (?13).

Body: mix an untinted body-glow cream — try Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Gloss (?4.15, tel: 020 8554 7000) — with pale liquid foundation. Apply to the d¨?colletage, arms and legs. Alternatively, Mac Face and Body, ?23, is ideal. This hides red blotches and adds a beautiful sheen.

I tried Paul and Joe foundation while it was still for sale at Sephora and while I had heard it would be good for pale skin, I found it was too dark and too...orange.

^ i know Diana Moldovan models for Paul & Joe cosmetics. i dont know how they got foundations to work for her because she is super pale!

I've very pale skin, and I want a blush that gives you a natural just-got-in-from-the-snow sort of look.. If you know what I mean. None of that glittery stuff.

Tips please?

Benefit throb is really good for that, as is posie tint. Very pretty and natural without a hint of glitter.

I used to use M.A.C. Hyper Real Foundation and it was beautiful for a dewy sort of look. It comes in very pale tones as well.

^ I tried hyper real too in NC 20 (the lightest shade they have in the store) and the lady have to put strobe in it to lighten it up. Right now i am trying estee lauder equalizer in 1C1, look quite nice so far, have to see how it gonna go in long run.
I am still trying to look for a foundation that is slightly warm but not golden or olive. Most of the warm foundation i have tried is not ivory/cream but rather golden/olive; it looks okay in the store but it make me look horrifying-ly bloodless at outdoors.
Any suggestion?

^^^ Technically, ivory/cream and golden refer to the same tone using different descriptions. Olive is slightly different, because many olive-skinned people are actually cool-toned. If you are of east Asian ethnicity as your avatar suggests, then your problem may be that you are using warm-toned foundations formulated with caucasian (I dislike the term, but so you get the idea) women in mind. East Asian skin is warm-toned in a less "golden" way. You may have better luck with an Asian brand, such as Shiseido or Kanebo.

Speaking of foundation, I recently discovered a pale, cool-toned shade that is well-priced: Maybelline Affinitone in Light Porcelain. If you live in Europe like me, you know that the lightest shades available in high street brands are usually too dark and yellow. The formula is moisturizing and provides a tad more coverage than tinted moisturizer, and it doesn't become darker after a few hours, at least on me. The best part is it's only around 12 euros.

I had no idea you could remove nailpolish with the clinique toner!!! this is crazy! I purchased the clinique starter kit (type 2) last week and have been using it religiously. I have dry skin, sometimes oily, and constant breakouts. I thought that maybe clinique would clear up my skin, but now i am reconsidering using it. i mean, the toner thing just scares me.

Well, hold your horses, because although on day one I had trouble with the kit I bought for anti blemish purposes, one week later I have spot free skin for the first time in two years, and I also have smaller looking pores. It works! I don't know which kit you've bought though, I got a mini kit with the foaming cleanser, anti blemish toner type stuff (that isn't toner as such) and the anti blemish moisturiser. My skin feels great!

Sorry for double post, but I wanted to make a pale foundation recommendation for those with pinky undertones. By Terry do a fabulous liquid foundation called lumi - ultra corrective (I think so anyway) and although pricey, it's absolutely AMAZING. It goes on smooth, no matter how you apply it, and it feels light as air, makes you light up whilst being matte, and covers virtually everything. It lasts all night and you don't get shiny at all, regardless of oil production. Thumbs up from me!

I def. recommend Chantecaille.

Be ware if in general SA's tell u that u are pink toned...just because u come in with flushed cheeks doesnt mean that u r pink toned...

What do you think about Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and Nvey Ecos products for pale/fair skin?

can you believe Ive actually found a foundation that is too light for my skin!?

would be great for pink toned porcelain skin [unfortunately I'm yellow toned] it goes perfectly and lasts for most of the day. its also incredibly light-weight.

Do you think it would be ok to add a touch of this to another foundation to get the perfect match or will it separate?

^I doubt it will separate, and I think it sounds like a fab idea.

I think its perfectly fine to mix foundation shades, I have definatley heard of Make up artists doing it.
I read in a magazine that Nicola Roberts from girls aloud uses a product to stop her pale skin looking blue toned, anyone know? I can't remember where I read it.

Interesting to read Lee Pycroft's tips...all the stuff I already do, so I guess I am on track!
