Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

Ah, thank you! I'll be mixing sunscreen into my foundation, and I'm totally going to go out and check out the Studio Finish stuff. I don't own a concealer, I've just been using foundation, but I totally need one for my makeup kit.

For those of you on a budget, I find Revlon's Colorstay Active foundation in Ivory works very well on pale skin. I'm very pale and it matches my skin perfectly. No funny yellow or pink undertones!

I have very pale skin and brownish-greenish eyes (I guess they would be considered hazel) and Merle Norman's Luminous Shadow in Loca Mocha is very stricking if you have similar coloring to me. It's my favorite eyeshadow color.

Thanks everyone for their recommendations!

It is great but the active formula has been discontinued by Revlon :( The replacement as Revlon states is now the mineral foundation.

i'm in LOVE with the colorstay. if you look me up on facebook (michael fragoso) every single picture i'm in is freakin ad for colorstay. i never leave home without it. it's very full coverage, without being noticeable...which for a guy, is great!

What!? They discountinued Colorstay Active? Why do cosmetic companies insist on canceling every product I fall in love with?

Anyone have another good concealer (preferably something that I can use under my eyes) that is very cheap? (think drug store)

hello i got that colour print thing from perscriptive cosmetics yesterday and i for match as red/orange; but i reallise that i hate the whole brown orage-y thing...

i love presriptives, they matched me perfectly

i went to perscriptive again not too long ago and they match me with blue/red.... whay is going on?
(the colour matches better this time tho)

The other day I was buying some mascara at the drug store, and saw this 'free foundation with Maybelline purchase!' coupon, so I picked out a tube of the Pure Makeup Foundation, in the lightest colour.

I took it home, and not expecting much out of a free thing of makeup, tried it out, and lo and behold, it was amazing. It was like a very sheer moisturizing sort of foundation that's impossible to screw up. It blends really nicely too, and dries into a soft natural finish -- a good daily foundation. I'd really recommend it, and I think the price is easily under $10.

I've been using that foundation because I am way poor at the moment, and have found it's actually really nice on my skin.

I used to tan but when I learned about the sun and wrinkles I started using sunscreen daily. I never mined pale skin, but I was looking at pictures from a bachlorette party this weekend and I look sickly. My skin looks green or something and I get dark circles in pictures that I don't see in the mirror, just in pictures. we had a professional photog. come with us so I dont think it's the camera. any advice? My brothers wedding is coming up and I think some magazine is covering it so I really dont want to look sick.

^ Photographs definitely don't do fair skin justice! I swear by Lancome Star Bronzer. I had to get a headshot done during the dead of winter and it really warmed up my fair skin and made it really radiant. It doesn't make you look super tan, so if you want that I'd try something else, but you definitely won't look ghostly. A million times better than any fake tanner and it works on arms and legs.

thanks a lot! I'll definitely try it out. I don't want to look tan just healthy so that seems perfect.

i see that this thread isnt alive too often, but i hope someone at some point can give me some advice. i guess i can compare my coloring to gwyneth paltrow. i have the same exact hair color (her hair currently) and basically the same coloring, except i have more freckles. i have blonde eyebrows and lashes which are a horrible curse (father irish, mother swedish  ). so, what is this coloring called? warm? i know i cant wear cool makeup colors, esp blue-reds, but my veins are definitely blue through the skin that doesnt have freckles. its like my freckles make my skin warmer? should i be looking for a light but warm foundation? i currently use bare minerals in light and mineral veil in feather light, but the foundation is slightly too yellow and frankly, too powdery.

as for mascara, does anyone have blonde lashes? is there some brand that will help me avoid the spider eyes look? i also have extremely long lashes and i end up looking like i incorrectly applied false lashes, and yes, this is everday. im using cover girl lash blast in brown right now, but ive used voluminous, clinique high impact, chanel inmitable, and ysl faux effet lately.

I used to wear BE too but I switched to Everyday Minerals a while back and I couldn't be happier! It lasts longer, goes on smoother, doesn't make my skin itchy, and is half the price. They have tons of choices for fair skin - warm, cool, neutral - they have it all. They even offer free samples (you pay a few dollars for shipping). I looked at their faq and they have Gwyneth listed as having a cool skintone:

Fair Medium

is a shade that is half-way between fair cool and medium cool shades. It is perfect for fair to light complexions with pinkish undertones. Some examples would be Cate Blanchet, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet.

That said, I have pink undertones but I hate makeup that accentuates that so I use EM's Fair Neutral. I would definitely recommend giving EM a try :flower:

I currently use Bare Minerals, but I find the powder is really drying on my fair, sensitive skin. I just began using toner, which definitely helps, but I really want to switch to a liquid foundation. I'm starting college in a month, so i want to get this all sorted out before then. I'm thinking of going with a Clinique foundation, I have really oily skin, and am thinking of either the Stay-True Oil-Free formula or the Superbalanced one (because I sometimes have unpredictable, acne-prone skin). I just feel bad about the cost though, so I think something like CoverGirl or Maybelline might be more up my alley financially, but I'm worried about if it would work on my oily, pale skin....

I like L'Oreal...I glad to read others in this thread who have pale skin like black mascara, as everything I read says pale people should go for brown instead of black, but I love the look of black mascara
