Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

I have never been able to find concealer that's white enough---not yellow or pink, but actually white enough to blend in on my face. At the moment I'm using Lancome Maquicomplet in Ivoire, but it's somewhat visible (which I hate). Any suggestions?

I use Shiseido's concealer in the lightest shade, and that is pretty white ^_^

B can i ask where you bought this in Oz? i can't find it anywhere and i'm keen to try it
I bought this from a Mecca store :flower: And as far as I'm aware, I think Mecca is the only place that stocks Stila in Australia...

my friend wanted to go shopping so we dropped by MAC

i told the MKA that i got matched to NC30 last time and she gasped, clearly its way too dark. she suggested NW25, i thought it still sounded too dark and when she tried it on she said oh nevermind. then she tried NW20, we talked about the differences between NW and NC. NW being more pink or red undertones and NC being more yellow/golden. lately i have been getting matched with the supposedly pinkish NW colors but to me i think they show up as orangey patches on me. so i asked for to try NC20...still too dark and too yellow. the MKA seemed satisfied but i wasnt so i asked for a 15. we swatched all of the colors because its easier to tell which is most similar to my foundation color. i ended up being a NC15! so what im saying is trust you own gut and judgement! the MKA's can be very very wrong a lot of the times.

^ W2, N1, NC15, Naked Lunch

when i got home i swatched my makeup, so N1 and NC15 are a pretty good match! excuse my hair lol i didnt even notice it till just now.

i love Naked Lunch for a neutral shadow. its described as light pink but i love pinks on me eithe way.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark for a little bit of warmth but not obvious bronzing...its much much lighter than MAC's lightest Bronzer in Golden which used to be one of my faves. it has less shimmer that most bronzers but its not a super matte powder so it will be more natural looking. MSF in Light Medium may work for some who want it even more subtle ;)

Ive been having trouble finding a light enough foundation too but I FINALLY found a very light one which is soo perfect

its the lightest shade on Revlon's custom creations

the number is 010 Ivory if i recall correctly... when you turn the cap, set it to the lightest shade...cause you can select about 5 shades from the same bottle

^ i wanted to try that one too but i wasnt sure if i like Revlon foundations on me. ive tried some from the discontinued line Skinlights but they were way orangey. and i wasnt sure if it was light coverage.

^ thanks Strawberry, maybe i will check it out when im out of True Match.

oo i got one of those True Match powders...i dont like it but its okay because it was a buy one get one free(check out Walgreens) dealios so i cost me nothing. its too sheer to provide any real coverage for touchups but i guess it would be good for those who have oilies and setting makeup. but i never do that i prefer just foundation wherever i need it and on its own so it looks more natural and not as matte as powder. and i dont get oily so no reason to carry it with me. the powder i have is darker than me so i could always use as a super subtle 'warmth/wannabe bronzer'. if you like sheer a matte finish, using sheer powders could work for those who hate typical bronzers but wants a more neutral color to warm up the face without being obvious.

I'm not sure I understand that foundation... Does that mean the bottle contains all the different shades? Isn't that a waste if you're only using one?

Belowen, thats what i was thinking before i decided not to buy Revlon but i think its idea if you plan to keep that bottle for a while. like if you get slightly darker in spring/summer or faded lighter for winter you can just adjust for the seasons :)

how I understand, it's a light color and a dark color and changing the setting on the pump will pump up different amounts of the light and dark. So unless your the middle shade it's wasteful but not as much as if there were actually as many colors as number in the bottle.

mac concealer in nc15 is very light. I wear studio fix n3/studio tech nc15 and I mix the nc15 concealer with the lightest shade from cle de peau which is a little bit too dark for my skin for the perfect color and texture.

i bought loreal paris true match blush in c1-2 baby blossom today.
I its good to give a allover rosy glow, but nothing really rosy (it is a really light neutral mauvy-pink with a strange peachyness) at all, i might have to return it...

this is probably a stupid question, but what is considered pale/fair?

i would never call myself pale, but i always need to buy the palest foundations, and often that is not enough. maybe it's because i live in Sweden and what is not considered pale here, may be more south. ?

We're not a pale/fair police over here; if you consider yourself pale, then most likely you are pale/fair-skinned. But you're not necessarily pale if light foundation shades don't match you; particularly in high street brands, most shades available are quite yellowish and dark. And I found that to be as much the case in northern European countries as in other places. Moreover, I don't think there is a connection between perceptions of paleness and country of origin, at least throughout Europe.

I think there is... People in France and Spain and Italy are much much darker than most Scandinavians, even when they're not tanning. And what is considered pale in Spain is probably considered normal in Scandinavia.

I think that's just a stereotype. I do agree that perceptions of haircolor change from region to region; I mentioned on the "Blonde hair" thread that while my hair is categorized as blonde, I would be considered a light brunette in Scandinavia. However, the same does not hold true for skintone.

Anyway, this is tricky territory because we're not supposed to discuss ethnic appearances on TFS; but I will say that olive skin be just as pale as "porcelain" skin, and plenty of French/Italian/Spanish people don't tan easily, or even have olive skin in the first place. And I wouldn't categorize all blonde/light-eyed people as pale-skinned either; it's not as connected to hair/eye color as people think.

Ive always found this thread title a bit confusing. "Pale" is probably too general a term. As a "pale" white-skinned, red-haired Celt I dont think I share much resemblance to a "pale" skinned, dark-haired Indian  However we both consider ourselves to be pale compared to the majority of people that we share our ethnicity with.

Rightly or wrongly I have always assumed this thread was intended for people with fair or very fair white/porcelain skin which doesn't tan. A place where we could collectively list cosmetic products that are considered very light and suit fair complexions as they have proved hard to find

these are the kind of complexions I had in mind:

jamilbrackin.blogspot.com

discovervancouver.com

style.com

However if you consider yourself pale then certainly no one here would want to exclude you! :flower:

does anyone here use the mac beauty powders? i heard they go on less strong as compared to regular blush.

^ i havent tried but i have hear they go on lighter as well.

i think pale is really up to your own interpretation so it would depend on where you are from as well. so you can either say well im not that pale where im from or you could say well im pale like most of the people i live around.

when my friends's tans fade they complain about being pale until they realize the are talking to me lol

i dont think i realize how fair i am until i have to shop for makeup and i eliminate a lot of brands and products right from the start. plus lately people have been pointing out how pale i am, im like oh yeah? well it is winter! ;) and i just had a big dinner with my coworkers so we were taking pictures and i totally stole their light...or was the *light*. so you could say im so used to how i look that i sometimes forget how different i may be compared to others.

i bought loreal paris true match blush in c1-2 baby blossom today.

the light neutral mauvey pink sounds pretty but im not a fan of peaches either. i say return it if you can. i dont think ive ever returned any drugstore makeup before.

I agree with Laisla, i found this thread confusing, on what was defined as pale. I have very white, anglo-northern european skin (family is northern european) that won't tan and freckles VERY easily, i mean five minutes in the sun and i get tiny freckles all over my arm. I used to have really red blonde hair when i was young but now its' ash brown. In Australia, even though it's very hot and sunny, not everyone is into tanning due to the awareness of skin cancer..and i think what people consider pale here, is not what i found people considered pale when i was in Hong Kong and China. I was actually overwhelmed at the amount of products found there to whiten complexions!

Personally I've always hated being pale, I've just come to terms with it, i long to have tanned golden skin with no freckles.

Anyway today I went to Mac tried the NC15 and it was too yellow for me. None of the Mac foundations really blew me away.. they came on too heavy and had yellow or pink understones.

I tried Dior skin nude- in 01 Beige (I think) it was perfect. I was in a rush so i will go back tomorrow to try it again.

I am thinking about breaking out the fake tan again because my arms are pale but look sort of red! Are there any products that would help with this? I don't wanna smell of biscuits!!!
Oh and do any of you pale ladies get your lovely ehite legs out in skirts etc? Or do you just wear tights? I haven't been brave enough to go bare legged without tan yet!
