Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

White eyeshadow. Creates a subtle halo "pop." Don't really have a brand preference myself, the cheaper ones suffice.

Could anyone recommend me a great mineral foundation that would suit pale skin (preferably with a pink undertone)?
I normally wear some just to cover spots or breakouts, and I find mineral powder looks most natural and doesn't make my skin worse.

Youngblood loose natural mineral foundation is great... Cool beige was the right shade on me, I'm not sure what you would be - perhaps you could try some samples? :flower:

Everyday Minerals has a great selection of foundations in lighter shades.

i havent used my MAC Studio Finish concealer in a while because i dont like how heavy its feels on my skin. i applied with a tiny brush to spots and blended with my fingers...it wasnt 'sticky' but it definitely feels like there is thick layer stuff on my skin. anyway i tried it out again recently and now i think its too yellow :( boooo

does anyone know what kind of foundations are used on Kirsten Dunst & Zooey Deschanel, they are both pretty pale

Stila illuminating foundation

I tried this a long time ago and liked it but stuck with my mac foundation, but I tried it again at sephora today and it's tempting. It was hard to tell in the store, how light/heavy is the powder? Is it light enough to use over my normal foundation?

I've mentioned this before, but MAC foundations have a reputation for oxidizing (turning too dark or yellowish) on some people. I recall you said you were matched as an NC15; that means you're neutral or warm-toned. Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier both have pale neutral/warm shades. Don't know what those actresses use, but they are both cool-toned, so those products may not work on you. Kirsten seems to have pink undertones and Zooey has (quite uncommon) blue undertones. However, if you prefer sheer formulas, then cool-toned shades will probably blend into your skin just fine.

i remember you saying that but i didnt let the concealer have time to 'oxidize' on my skin or anything. i might have gotten paler since its winter, which i have been doing gradually(and its why i hate shopping for skin makeup because there is so much change depending on the seasons). i usually get matched to NW's but i tried a whole bunch of NW's and NC's and keep going lighter and lighter. in the end i never tried the NW15 and just went home with the NC15 hoping that would have a better effect on neutralizing the redness in blemishes.

thank you Melfreya!

I went and tried out youngblood mineral foundation - cool beige is my colour in that brand, here it is on my face after a couple hours wear...

I've heard it's quite chalky, and has a lot of glitter in it... :ermm:

^MAC Strobe for a subtle pearly glow. But you can mix any pink or skin-toned shimmer powder into your body lotion to control the level of glow you're after.

^Strobe Liquid by MAC would probably give you the desired effect.

the blurb:

Strobe Liquid

Blending soft-focus diffusers with iridescent pigments, this ultra-fluid strobe formula produces a soft, radiant light on the skin, reducing the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. Refreshing. Spreads on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant. A lighter-weight addition to the popular Strobe Cream.

Alternatively you could mix a little liquid highlighter with your regular body moisturiser for a similar effect.

Maybe one of you guys can help me with my eternal foundation problem. I've been using MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC15 for a while now, but I'm still not happy with the colour. It's too yellow for me.
I don't have great skin and it's really really light. I have freckles and dark brown hair. I'm like a see-through scale model of the human blood circulation, you can see all the little veins. I live in Germany, so I'm relatively short of options. Any suggestions?

^MAC foundation shades starting with the letters NC are yellow based. Those starting with NW are pink based. if you are happy with the product itself you could simply switch to NW15 which is the lightest pink based liquid foundation MAC do.

Personally I am not a fan of MAC foundations because I find they oxidize quickly [turn orange] so i generally just avoid them.

...it's really really light. I have freckles and dark brown hair.

well you sound gorgeous to me!

I have freckles too which I find makes wearing foundation even trickier because you are in danger of sort of blurring the freckles together which is never a good look.

maybe you could try a tinted moisturiser? Because the coverage is a little more sheer than a regular foundation so finding a colour match wont be as difficult. Belowen just mentioned that she likes Stila Sheer Cover tinted Moisturiser. Ive heard good things about Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizers and one by Bobbi Brown.

A lot of drugstore brands do tinted moisturisers but the shade selection is usually rather more limited.

If you feel you need more coverage then I think Dior has some good options in the higher price bracket. I tested several brands last year when I was searching for a foundation and I remember being close to getting one by Dior.

Perscriptives is sure to have a colour match for you but they can be a bit pricey, especially the custom fit one. If you can get to a counter in Germany then its always worth checking out their selection as its pretty extensive.

On the other end of the price scale Im usually impressed by Bourjois foundations. I believe they are made by [or at least owned by] Chanel cosmetics so they are good quality. However Im not sure if you can get this line in Germany. You could try ordering online, perhaps.

out of curiosity I tried the latest offering by L'Oreal. I cant remember exactly what it was called but it is the one that has serum in it. I tried the lightest shade 100 Ivory and thought it was pretty good considering it is under £10.

Personally I've decided to ditch foundation altogether and just touch up any imperfections and blemishes with a light reflecting liquid concealer - I think my skin is looking better than ever. Concealers tend to be a little lighter in colour than foundation so I find it easier to get a good match for my skin.

I'm like a see-through scale model of the human blood circulation, you can see all the little veins.

sounds like my chest -its like a road map!

anyway, hope what Ive suggested helps. :flower:

Bobbi Brown might be worth a try. Maybe you are right about foundation, when I take make-up-free days it tends to look better. Dior make-up is unfortunately too dark for me.
And it's good to hear that I'm not the only one with a see-through skin.
