Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

^ Naked Lunch might work better on a prepped lid like under foundation or a skintoned primer. my eyelids have a natural eyeshadow look to them so when i use light eyeshadows i usually neutralize that first.

i think Teddy is so amazing because of the shimmer. also its a vibrant brown especially compared to other browns ive tried with no shimmer that tend to look a bit muddy.

i switched over to L'Oreal True Match in C1 to conceal old acne scars too, im liking it a lot more than N1/N2.

you guys should check out fuzkittie's youtube! i like the colors she uses on her fair skin. lots of Paul & Joe and Jill Stuart.

I don't think there is a connection between perceptions of paleness and country of origin, at least throughout Europe.

There seems to be some perception here that even the palest Australians are a delicate shade of orange- my Shiseido SA couldn't sell me a foundation light enough but told me that if I went to Asia to buy it I would have no problem, as Australian Shiseido stores don't even bother to stock half the colours at the light end of the spectrum. I guess that has something to do with the fact that Australians are "supposed" to be tanned, whereas some Asian countries prize pale skin more highly?

 I know what you mean!
So, we've already been over this topic in this thread, and I think it's a sensitive subject all-around, as is everything related to skin color. Although others disagreed with me, I still stand firmly on my previous comment that degrees of paleness are not strongly affected by ethnicity/nationality in Europe(don't have enough experience w/ rest of world). What I meant was, you can be, for example, from a southern-most region and have very pale, intolerant Alice Burdeu skin. Values about the beauty of paleness do differ, like with east Asia and Australia, as you mentioned.

Re: foundations, I've been to many north European countries, and the foundation problem was the same. I have no idea why, it doesn't make sense. The selection for paler skin seems to have improved recently, but I'm so surprised that fdtn shades in the most prominent, big-business brands (YSL, Dior, Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder) are still too dark or yellow-toned.

Clinique makes a very nice 'white' based foundation.. its one of the few department store ones I can use.

so, like i said, i went to my Givenchy counter the other day and the woman there told my, Givenchy wasn't producing dragee anymore. could this actually be true?

L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Cool 1 Alabastre
its light coverage which is love because its more natural but still works amazingly well as an undereye concealer because of the pink undertones!

edit***
for reference im a MAC NW15 or L'Oreal N1/N2
Do you think the L'Oreal True Match would work on dry skin? I'm a MAC NW15 but I find I can only use it on some areas because if I use it on my forehead or nose it makes it look flaky. :ninja:

Does anyone else have a problem with veins being visible through your skin, like on your eyelids... I don't mind being very pale but I do hate this element.

^ i think its fine if you moisturize enough and use a good scrub when there are skin flakies.

since i use it on small areas of the face i cant really say whether or not its drying but i think its a pretty neutral foundation in a sense that its not moisturizing or super drying like a foundation with acne fighting ingredients.

i would consider my skin to be normal but with menstrual breakouts(UGH). so i cross my finger every month and sometimes im lucky and get no new breakouts but sometimes im not so lucky. i really like the formula because it has no fragrance, very light coverage...but i dont like heavy stuff. i dont use makeup to cover, just to diffuse. its buildable so i always use a little bit at a time which takes up a lot of time for me in the morning but i dont like globbing it on then trying to blend etc

also i like my skin makeup stuff to have no spf. my N2 had SPF 17 so it would kind of reflect in pictures but im not having a problem with C1 because it has no spf. they are pretty similar colors but with different undertones. i would say C1 is between a N1 and N2 but pink.

i use this on my undereye circles and to cover up old acne scars :( i use my fingers(clean of course) to apply and blend. i really like the pink undertones because i blush/get flushed SOOO easily so it matches really well even when im like warm/hot or just embarassed HAHAHA. its not straight up pink more subtle than say C2 which looks like liquid blush to me in the bottle.

if you compare C1 to other foundations you can def tell its pink. the N1/N2 was okay but if i had to use it on an old acne scar that was on my cheek it was like neutral when my cheeks are always pink so it was harder to blend. or gave that area of my cheek a neutral spot so i would put my blush over it. now i dont have to wear the blush over it.

My mom has that translucency on her eyelids, and I find it so pretty! Like she's permanently wearing pastel lilac eyeshadow, and she has green eyes, so you can imagine. A friend of mine has it too, but I wouldn't call her pale, so it's not unique to our kind.^_^ Still, if it bothers you, it's nothing a concealer or eyeshadow primer can't fix.

Oh, and as for the rest of your skin, I kind of like that too. It's cute! When I was younger, I had a blue vein running smack down my forehead like a thunderbolt. It's still visible sometimes. If only Harry Potter were out then, I would've been the coolest kid on the block. I also have tiny spider veins on my cheeks and back, but imo they are not that noticeable to others, just me and my eyebrow tweezing magnifying mirror:D

My veins are visible on almost 100% of my body. And I'm not even that pale.

Same here. I'm really freakin pale, so I guess that's something that comes with it. It can be annoying sometimes, like these blue massive veins on my neck and there's nothing to cover them, because no make-up is light enough.

^
I also have the skin translucency issue. Veins aren't visible on my eyelids, but if I'm really tired, you can see them underneath a little bit. But yes, I'm practically clear  Especially at joints, like wrists and elbows. Unfortunately, nothing I can do about it

i dont really have problem with veins but the other day my arms felt like they were strained and i looked down at them in the mirror and blue veins were blazing on the inner part of my forearms. it was weirddd but im looking at them now and they dont show as much because they feel normal now.

I have the translucent skin too, but am I alone in thinking it's quite beautiful? Doesn't bother me at all. :)

Mine is translucent in some places, but it doesn't bother me either. Probably because I don't think about it much anyway. I only have a little bit of translucence on my eyelids. I thought of the idea of having translucent skin as pretty after reading something Kevin Aucoin said about Winona R.'s skin either in one of his books or a magazine article (can't remember where I read it). In the picture of her in it she had makeup on that was very fairy/pixie like. I've actually been trying to find that image.

There was a pale beauty outside my club the other night and her skin looked like she'd stepped out of a photoshop airbrushing session. I asked her what she used and she said L'oreal Infalliable in the palest shade. I ran out and got it and although not absolute perfection (after about five hours it gets a little oily), its absolutely amazing. It covers really well, it's suitably pale, and has a sheen that I can't find in a millions of high end foundations i've spent money on.

I have visible purple veins on my upper eyelids. I cant say that its something that has ever bothered me but should it worry anyone else, a creamy yellow based concealer like this by Bobbi brown would fix it instantly. You want to go for a concealer with a slightly thicker consistency rather than those you tend to get in pen concealers [eg Touche Eclat] as they are usually quite sheer and will slide off quickly since eyelids tend to be quite greasy. Alternatively do what I do and get eye skimming bangs :p
