Pale / Fair Skin - What Are Your Fave Products?

i dont have any visible vein on my eyes, but rather on my chest, palm/feets and round jaw lines.

Has anyone tried Chanel White Essentiel foundation (liquid or powder)? And equally as importantly, do they sell it in Australia?? It sounds quite promising!

honestly, if you are willing to spend the money on Chanel and other high end products, I really cannot rave enough about Prescriptives custom blend foundation. Not only are you ensuring you have something pale enough, but also that it matches your skin undertones. I got mine awhile back and am still using it. They make a LOT when they do it for you. When I put it onto my skin, I get coverage, but it blends in an instant.

Meg, I got a custom blend concealer in January, but because the department store like is too dark and yellow and my skin is transculent, the shade is off in daylight, which suck ***.
But otherwise I have Prescriptive too.

I've had a few prescriptives foundations, and they play up the tone I want to play done, I hated the foundation color, which was upsetting, because the coverage was amazing!

Same here. Veins that bulge out are a different story, but translucency is beautiful.

that reminds me of me comparing my veins to my male coworkers. one of the guy's arm veins were all bulging and i was like 'are you flexing or something?' and he was like nah. then he did flexed and he could make his veins bigger, it looked like something out of a cartoon(i swear ive seen it in anime). i tried to flex my veins and failed. i think most girl's forearms are too soft to show bulgy veins except Angelina Jolie & Madonna...then we compared the veins on the underside of our arms, he's really tan so his were purple, the other dude's were green, and mine are blue. they say you can tell your undertones by looking at your veins.

wow so many people have the translucency thing! i think its quite pretty :)

oo i mentioned in my other post how L'Oreal True Match Foundation in C2 is super pink and i thought it looked like blush. my friend asked me for advice for undereye concealer so i took a good look at her face and was like 'omgosh youre a C2!' it was so funny so i suggested she check that out since i think her concealer is too neutral for her when she was very strong pink undertones.

edit*: ^ my friend went to go check out C2 and they were sold out! i think the concealer in C1-2-3 would probably be too dark for her and none of the concealers look like they are for fair skin. its like a mix of all three foundation shades so its more like a medium shade. at first C2 didnt make sense to me as a foundation shade because it might not be flattering to emphasize the pink tones so much. i always see people trying to downplay it... i hope that when she does get it, it works out for her. i think its a great shade for those who are very fair and very pink who dont want to wear full face of foundation but just want to diffuse their undereye circles.

I just ran out of the SK II airtouch after 4 weeks  At $45 a refill it's a little ridiculous. The packets are teensy but I read they're supposed to last 3-4 months. I really really love it so Im hoping I just wasted a lot when learning how to use it.

Ok- this update is really late (I posted about it back on page 14!) but the Armani designer shaping creme foundation really f'd up my skin. Too heavy-feeling, made my face SUPER shiny after an hour wearing it, not to mention clogging my pores like the hoover dam. I started breaking out REALLY BADLY from it, and it took me a long time to recover. I was so frustrated! I've finally got my skin semi back to normal, and now using Shu Uemura face architect smoothing fluid foundation (have been for the last 7 months) and loving it. They have some really nice light shades that aren't too orange.

Thanks, I'll 'check it out'^_^

i dont know whether to be happy or sad. i dont think L'Oreal's True Match Line is very consistent in their colors.

like i said before i didnt buy any of their concealers because they were all too dark. well i was grocery shopping and on a whim just decided to browse the makeup section. i glanced at a concealer picked up a pinkish tube that would match my skin and low & behold it was C1-2-3. its way lighter than it was before when i compared it with C2 a few weeks ago. i think they changed the formulas because i looked at some other colors im familiar with and they looked different too. its crazy but i ended up buying it because now it looks closer to C2. i tried it out just now and it looks really good on me. my friend whom i recommended C2 foundation to use as a concealer loves it. so now im recommending the conealer too. at first she thought it looked crazy pink in the bottle but when you put it on it blends so easily, it really helps her undereye circles. i noticed my pink undertones in pictures so if youre like me, you should check out the Cool line.

i think it sucks that their colors are a bit inconsistent. i notice some bottles have spf and some dont. but i prefer no spf because they dont photograph well. i hope they dont change it again because skin makeup is such a pain in the a** because it really has to be close to perfect or else. its not like wearing all over foundation where your whole face is covered. if its really off then it will show in patches.

I bought L'Oreal infalliable, which I thought was great until my mother looked at me in horror and said 'why have you got that pink paint on your face!'. I looked in the mirror and I really was bright pink, and this was with porcelain. Argh, why can't I find a good color match!?

Givenchy Subli'Mine Fluid foundation in dragee = love.

The compact of this was way too light, but the fluid seems to settle more, and is just perfect for me. At last! :woot:

I just got that too, based on the recommendation from someone here - oh wait, that was you:) I now see what you meant by that ethereal glow, Porcelain seems to have a lavender undertone, similar to T LeClerc Orchidee powder. Not pink, but I can imagine it looking pinkish on some people. It is a decent match on me, but the finish is bit too flawless, kwim, and it's so hard to blend in! Definitely a 'special occasions' foundation.

Do you have any idea where I could get a sample of this? I wanted to purchase it, but they don't sell it in Germany. I've found it in some online store, but before i spent the money, I would like to test it. :flower:

I love that too flawless look, but I'm so desperate to find a shade that doesn't make me glow in an unappealing way.

This is the girl I saw that looked like a living doll in it, why don't I look that white with it?? So annoying!

No, I'm sorry... I would be happy to send you a little sample though, if you don't have any luck finding some of your own. PM me if you're interested ^_^

What a beauty she is! That's a very high maintenance makeup look, apart from foundation, I'm sure there's primer and face powder involved (not to mention wide contacts and heavy falsies).

Since you're after the 'super-flawless' look, you have to use a full-coverage foundation. That may be why you're having a hard time finding a color match; the more opaque the formula, the more imperative it is that it's a perfect color match. (A sheer finish is adaptable to more skintones, if close in range.)

Unfortunately, the trend is for a sheer finish, so there isn't a huge selection of f-c foundations in light shades. And layering a sheer formula only goes so far. Foundations for professional use might be fruitful, but be warned that those are not good for the skin if worn all day, everyday (or night:)) These are typically found at theater/beauty supply stores. And ask at every department store brand to sample their palest, most f-c formula. With some luck, eventually you'll find your color.

Thanks for your lovely reply! I think you're totally right, I'm looking for something that doesn't really exist. I exist in this weird world of clubs where people dress in a pretty extreme fashion and the make up looks are really extreme too, and it seems you can't get anything from your usual department store to recreate these looks. The girl pictured was using infalliable, but clearly it just suits her, because she has quite bad skin I think, but with that foundation she looks incredible.

Thank you for your tips. I've heard of Make Up For Ever having a fc foundation, but have no idea how I would go about testing it, or whether it's actually any good.

I shall begin my search! It's tough being pale and a night owl!

Vampires might disagree with you on that;)

Here are some samples of MUFE foundations, so you get an idea:

MUFE+F%26B+2+%28Medium%29.jpg

MUFE+HD+1+%28Medium%29.jpg

Make Up For Ever's HD Foundation...comes with a pump (finally!) and is a little thicker (and slightly fuller coverage) than the previously swatched Face and Body. It's waterproof (as all MUFE foundations are), oil-free, contains no SPF, and is purportedly camera-ready for all kinds of lighting. It's also near-permanent (almost staining). I only had access to Sephora's house brand makeup remover (more suitable for removing eye makeup) and Philosophy's Purity Made Simple foam, and they weren't really sufficient to get the foundation off my arm. I think you're going to need an oil-based makeup remover.

Have any of you tried the Paul & Joe cosmetic line?
I have heard good things about it, but I'm unsure how light the foundation shades are.
I can't check it out in person since there aren't any shops close enough to me that carry the line. :(
I'm really curious, though. I love the packaging!
