TWO LITTLE GIRLS-from british vogue.com
THE DSquared2 twins better watch out - there's another set of gorgeous identical designers who are fast approaching fashion's fast lane. Palmer Jones, the label set up by twin sisters Kathryn and Lindy Jones four years ago, was short-listed for the Fashion Group International Rising Star Award this year as well as winning the esteemed Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award. And now, thanks to Browns founder Mrs Burstein, the stunning one-off jackets that are the focus of their collections - all embellished antique fabrics and stunning whisper-light colours - are available to their London fans via the South Molton Street boutique. "We wanted to treat jackets like accessories - really gorgeous pieces that you can wear with anything but that are also really precious to you, like heirlooms," says Kathryn, who was brought up with her sister in Newbury, Berkshire, before they both studied fashion at Kingston and subsequently moved to New York 17 years ago to get the likes of Ralph Lauren and Andrea Jovine on their CVs. Now that they have set up their own label as well as a secondary Pink Label line of cashmere sweaters, they're taking full advantage of being twins. "It does make a difference to our design aesthetic," goes on Kathryn. "We really empathise with each other's references. Our muse is Cinderella, which was our favourite bedtime story when we were little, so creating each collection is just a case of imagining what she does next. She's one step ahead of the game and always very glamorous." See all the Palmer Jones collections at www.palmer-jones.com. (November 30 2004, AM) :flower:

thanks softgrey I hadn't heard of them before - I don't like the jackets. Not my kind of thing.

that was funny :P

I think the concept sounds quite weak in the first place - or at least it sounds like they are trying really hard to have a concept!

I actually like the detailing on the jackets, although their work isn't anything too special. I don't see the Cinderella inspiration either... A couple of pieces I do approve of.

edit: And I wanted to add that most anything is better than DSquared.

The satin costume-shop jackets aren't doing anything for me... the collection lookss dull and a little cheap

does anyone have any pictures from the show they had for spring 07.. I am dying to see them..

I like this design very much - the extra tunic over a fifties shape dress looks as though it would be fun to wear.
