Paris Haute Couture S/S 08 Schedule: What Shows Are You Looking Forward To?

Elie Saab and Valentino are showing their collections on the same day? :woot: What a dream!
Wish I could be in Paris this week...

PARIS: 'I just want to put beauty on my runway," said Valentino, stroking a silken blue dress from his final couture collection to be shown Wednesday.

As a seamstress put the last delicate touches to white lace flowers on Monday in Valentino's Place Vendôme studio, the designer contemplated the end of his long career, after he had celebrated the house's 45th birthday with a Roman spectacular in July.

Getting Ready to Bid Adieu

PARIS When Valentino bids farewell to fashion Wednesday night after a glittering 45-year career, he’s going to take his sweet time.

“I must leave a souvenir to all of my friends of something to remember, not five seconds of show,” he said of his 75-exit swan song couture collection, which will parade under the vaulted ceilings of a giant tent in the gardens of the Musée Rodin.

“I really enjoyed very, very much making this collection and, on purpose, I decided to make it a little bit bigger. So for my last show, [my guests] can be seated maybe 15 minutes longer than usual.”
Leisurely though his show might be, the Roman couturier is not looking to fan any emotions of the moist variety.

“Very happy, not sad at all,” he replied when asked about the mood he’s after for his final show, to be attended by the likes of Uma Thurman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler and Elizabeth Hurley. “It’s a happy collection. It’s not a collection with tears in between.”

In separate interviews here Monday at Valentino’s gilded salons on the Place Vendôme, the designer and his longtime business partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, spoke in frank, upbeat terms about their lives after retirement — while holding out hope that couture would continue to thrive after their departure. “We are very serene, very happy,” Valentino said, flashing a big smile. “We end a cycle in our life and a new one is starting. I am especially happy because I leave one very happy career, a career that gave me a lot.”

From Natalia's thread

How much does Valentino Garavani love Natalia? It turns out a lot. Not only is the legendary designer traveling to Moscow later this year to help out with the supermodel’s charity, but now we’re hearing that the Russian will have a VERY significant role in the designer’s final couture presentation in a week. It will be a surprise and we can’t wait to witness it.

Wow, I definetly do not mind 75 outfits for Valentino. I cannot wait to see the show! :)

God, even though it's been in the works for months and rumors have circulated for years, it's kind of surreal that after tommorow there will be no more Val.

Not entirely of course, the house will live on, but no Valentino? That's crazy.

The Valentino fittings have been a mess from what I gather. He's calling girls back in and changing outfits around and everyone is on standby, but I saw a camera phone picture (very much shouldn't have) of an outfit someone is wearing and it is FANTASTIC. It'll blow socks off.

I am pretty much beside myself with glee and awe for Valentino.

I'm really anxious about tonight (Valentino)! I'm going to be so incredibly sad when its over and know that Garavani is done :(

WOOED BY FASHION: Among the new faces in couture's front row this season is Jennifer Woo, president of Hong Kong-based fashion retailer Lane Crawford, who just might join the ranks of high-fashion clients soon. "Maybe. Let's see," she demurred. Woo and Lane Crawford's fashion director, Sarah Rutson, are also here to take in the trends at couture. "It's the essence, the top, the pinnacle of fashion, and we need to make sure that's kept alive," said Woo, whose adventures at the couture also are being documented for a feature in Vogue.

Only half an hour to last Valentino show.

It's so exciting and sad at the same time.

I will miss him so much.

Last Minute:

VALENTINO going to use his favorite models so a pity but not Darias, Julias, Lilys,...... but yes Natalia!!!!!!!!! From Russia with Love:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:
