Paris Haute Couture S/S 08 Schedule: What Shows Are You Looking Forward To?

So what do we wanna see tomorrow :shifty:

IMO, Dior last season was wonderful and beautiful...but I want more eveninggowns that are actually wearable (like that blue one on Flavia  ) And it all looked very princessy and goodgirlish and now I want something badass! I'd be thrilled if Galliano took his inspiration from Lohan/Spears/Amy/f-ed up rehab people...some extreme crazy, drunken sex on the runway, but still Dior and elegant. Can anybody follow my vision here
I would love to see that, too, but I'm sure the Dior executives would have a conniption! Remember, John, Dior is for old ladies now!:lol:

I totally get you Dale. If John had done his trailer trash or homeless collection now it would have a whole new level of depth.

As for me, I want something a bit dark. Not total horror circa 2006, but something mysterious, seductive with a hint of perversion. I just know that I do not want crinolines, bustles, panniers or any other such contraption to expand a garment. I want something lean, body conscious, meticulously cut and subtly detailed to perfection.

And I will say this, I don't want another every-color-of-the-rainbow palette or overabundance of embroidery and beadwork.

Well said. ^^ The multi-colored dresses in the last collection wasn't my cup of tea...

Well on my list Dior. As reasons stated in past pages, something always worth wanting to see. When I think of Couture I think of Dior it just goes.

Givenchy is another one! I'm most exctied to see this collection. Then Valentino because it's his last and I just can't.wait. :woot:

That´s exactly what I´m expecting too, fluidity, sensuality, maybe something like the bias cut section from his own fall 2007 show (Magdalena´s dress and so on) and I could do with tons of embroidery but like those dresses from his fall 99 hc collection, that are still body consious and I hope it has nothing to do with Flavia´s dress, to me that´s the cheapes number from that collection.

Same. I know it was a joke, but during the pre-show discussion for the Dior HC FW 07, somebody said the theme was mermaids, and to be honest, I was actually very excited about that.

I would love to see Galliano do some gorgeous bias cut mermaid gowns with some intricate crustaceous embroidery, sequined scales dresses, etc. The girls hair wet and stringy, runny make up...the whole atmosphere kind of dark and watery. (I know this is all sounding very Givenchy HC SS 07, but I'm seeing it in a much more Galliano way!)

Hmmm...a mermaid theme would be too sweet IMO...I really want something wrong and provocative this time. On a sidenote, the Pre-Fall collection was 'inspired' by Anna Karenina...that could be interesting for couture as well. Anyone familiar with Tolstoy's novel would agree since it is really a dark and sad story...much more than furhats and Russian richness.

1 DAY LEFT!
IMo Last season's shows theme was hurt by how random the pieces were. I loved to see something as focused a 2006's show. That would be great!

Anna Karenina could be a beautiful inspiration, but with the current mood over at Dior it would more than likely be very heavy and bourgeois looking.

If it were a few years ago then I'd say that the whole tainted Russian aristocracy thing would be beautiful and interesting. But considering how literal and undiluted his inspirations have been lately, I'm not so sure I'd want to see piles of fur, acres of crinolined and corseted dusty rose duchesse satin and white opera gloves.

I'd love to see him re-examine his early obsession with late Victorian and Edwardian corsetry, maybe through the lense of underground Victorian p*rn*gr*phy. That clash of propriety and perversion is so Galliano.

Oh, and most importantly, I hope to god there aren't any platforms.

no platforms spike?
that ads to the drama for me
both in the clothes and the fact that at any
given moment one poor girl might fall.(hopefully not)

i would love anna karina to be inspiration, but i agree, i think there will be something rather different this season.

I cannot wait, I'm so happy Dior is showing on monday
I'm looking forward to all the collections but especially the major designers

That´s pretty much what I will like to see too, mostly because mermaids have a perverse side too, they look all sweet but they attract the sailor and then he drowns, besides, a few days ago I was watching a show when they said that most of the times kids with sexual identity issues were attracted to mermaids because they didn´t have legs or whatever so that whole ambiguity seems interesting...
Yet again that sounds like FAR too much for an haute couture show, the idea of Anna Karenina seems interesting aswell but he already worked her on fall 99 hc and I relate it to winter, but!, most of the times his summer couture collections include lots of fabric and fur (yet again they are a preview of the fall rtw) so who knows, who knows!!!

8 hours to go...

To John: do not disappoint me today. :hardhead:

And no platforms. The drama was good a few years ago, but by now the girls should be pros. -_-

Well I am always interested to see what Galliano does, but I suppose we shall see. And I am DYING to see what Valentino has done! So very standard choices I suppose haha
