THE DAILY MAIL: 'I DID rush into marriage and never said it would last forever,' confesses Peaches Geldof

When she eloped with her boyfriend of less than one month in Las Vegas she claimed she had met the love of her life. But now Peaches Geldof has confessed that perhaps she rushed into her three month marriage.

The 19-year-old, who married Max Drummey in the same Las Vegas Little White Wedding Chapel where her mother Paula Yates wed Bob Geldof, admitted that even she is sceptical about the much discussed partnership's chance of survival.

She told Heat magazine: 'You can’t ignore divorce rates. Every friend of mine has parents who are now divorced. I didn’t go into it with Max thinking, 'This is going to last forever', but I did go into it thinking, 'I love him right now and I know that I will continue to love him for a long while.'

The London party girl did not tell her protective father what she had done until after the wedding and confirmed that he didn't approve of her decision to become a teenage bride.

She confessed: 'He said, 'Well, I think it’s a really intense thing to do and, in my opinion, as your father, I think it’s a bit silly because you’re very young. But, at the same time, I’m happy for you, and if you love him, that’s a really good thing.'

Miss Geldof claimed the wedding was her 23-year-old husband's idea: 'He said to me, 'I don’t want you to go back to London. I don’t want to lose this bond with you. I don’t want you to be taken away from me. Why don’t we just take a trip to Vegas and do something like get married?' I was like, 'Hell yeah!'

'I thought, 'I’m 19 years old, this is amazing and a little bit nuts, but I’ve fallen in love with him, so why not?'

The pair married only one month after they met at the iTunes festival in July after chatting on social website MySpace. Drummey, who graduated from Harvard and can play 12 instruments, is once half of obscure US band Chester French.

Miss Geldof said: 'We were just in contact via MySpace. He lives in America, so we’d email back and forth. Then we met again at the iTunes festival, and I was going through a difficult time with my other relationship.

'We were sort of at a hiatus, so Max said, 'Why don't you come and hang with me in America?' I felt trapped at home and it sounded good, so I went.' The MTV reality star, who has dated several musicians in the past, claimed she was attracted to Drummey's intelligence.

She said: 'I mean, you’ve seen some of the people I’ve dated in the past! I’m not the type of girl who will chase after a Brad Pitt look-alike. I like intelligence.' Miss Geldof swooned: 'He has this magnetism – I suppose I fell under his spell.

'We were just travelling across America, visiting weird towns. It was really fun and I felt so free. I had this huge bond with him – it felt like the sort of archaic romance that you only ever read about. It’s a cliché, but clichés are there for a reason.'

It was reported that the fledgling marriage was in trouble after Miss Geldof flew immediately after the wedding for crisis talks with her family at their holiday home in Mallorca. But since then the pair have been at pains to show a united front.

Miss Geldof had Drummey's name tattooed on her wrist to add to her numerous collection of tattoos.

The teenager has had a turbulent year. In July, she was treated by paramedics after a suspected drugs overdose while earlier in the year, she was recorded allegedly handing over money for drugs, although she was never charged by British police.

I'm in need of a 'projectile vomiting' smilie in response to her Nylon column .

'My Jack Kerouac adventure led me to New York'.

i didn't like her column...
a) it's so not nylon-esque
b) it's so not interesting
c) it's so pseudo-intelligent
d) WTF?!

^^ i agree..she seems so contemptuous in the MTV show she had a stab at.
She commented that the writers for her magazines were insightful and lacked any potential of being writers and that humour was an essential element to have.i was expecting an entertaining read *yawn*

she needs braces too:innocent:
